. @chibbqk1ng any spots in Chicago that are nearly as good as the Halal carts in NYC?
Imagine NOT living in Chicago & NOT being able to call Caleb Williams your Quarterback.
That must suck to suck.
She’s a thing of beauty.
Congrats @wonder_city_ & Carla Bruni
Can anyone explain how a SMALL restaurant would AVOID going out of business from buying a $2,000 kiosk that also has a required annual subscription service?
“Many restaurants that would otherwise go out of business will stay alive” seems like a pretty lofty claim.
I am all for hardware (we need more of that!) but again I don’t know how this helps a SMALL restaurant (meaning single location, family owned).
Also no printed receipts just means more patrons have to stare down at their phone (presumably) and wait for a text saying “your order is ready!”.. with that I say no thanks. I’d rather order with a human from that lovely SMALL restaurant or at least have a printed receipt (like McDonald’s to compare w/ kiosk experience) to keep my conversation going with the colleague I went to lunch with. This kiosk feels less social.
Also I don’t get how service is “more precise”? Every order is printed and is sent to the line on the same screen/piece of paper. What makes a kiosk “more precise”? That tells me that today consumers have LESS control over their order?
Block is going to aggressively deploy these into every small restaurant in America, just as they did with their other point of sale systems.
It will be the first time most of these small business owners feel the deflationary impact of AI, because in many cases, it will eliminate the need for extra staff. Customers will get faster and more precise service. Many restaurants that would otherwise go out of business will stay alive, a ripple effect that disproportionately supports the working class families who depend on their success.
Congratulations to @jack and @TempletonThomas from a grateful generation of foodies.
Google officially sharing their plans for consolidation of their Fulton offices into Thompson Center was inevitable.
For the last 5 years, the CRE space said Class A office demand in Fulton exceeded supply. Between these 2 Google exits and Sidley's new Fulton office, we'll see if all this incoming vacancy is absorbed.
I predict the Loop and east of Jefferson St by the river will see a heavier uptick in leasing activity next year.
Google’s big Loop bet comes with a warning: It can’t revive downtown alone chicagobusiness.com/real-est…
Props to @claudeai - I refused to pay Jiffy Lube ~$120 for a routine oil change. Claude found me a local mechanic, shared cost estimate & then just booked my appointment.
Saved $70 & supported a superb local Chicago biz
If this girl were there instead of Breedelio, Sox coulda been celebrating tonight
The @whitesox should give the girl who dropped all her stuff tickets tomorrow just as a measure of good luck
