Brandon Figueroa has withdrawn from his fight scheduled for tonight against Tomoki Kameda at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. He was stripped of his WBA featherweight title yesterday for failing to make the 126-pound limit.
Whereas Brandon Figueroa came in overweight today & lost his WBA featherweight title at the scale, 6-foot-6 Sebastian Fundora continues to make the junior middleweight limit relatively easily. He weighed in at LESS than 154 pounds for a 17th straight fight today, dating back to November 2018. My @ringmagazine story on how he does it, despite his height & age (he’ll turn 29 in December):

Osleys Iglesias isn’t sure the feeling will be mutual, but he told me he wants the Canelo-Mbilli winner or Jaime Munguia after his first IBF super middleweight title defense tonight in Quebec City. Iglesias will face Denmark’s Oliver Zaren in DAZN’s main event. Coverage starts at 6:30 p.m. ET. My @ringmagazine story:

Ryan Garcia-Teofimo Lopez looks like the welterweight title unification fight we’ll get next. Here’s why a Garcia-Devin Haney rematch is what we should see instead:

Can’t emphasize enough how great a dude & teammate Tom Gerbasi was to so many of us at The Ring, BoxingScene, UFC and everywhere else he worked. Thankfully, he got to enjoy this amazing moment with his granddaughter and the rest of his family at the BWAA dinner, just a few months before he died last September 16th. Rest easy, old friend. You’re missed dearly.

Teofimo Lopez brought some levity to the press conference by wearing a disguise and asking questions on behalf of DAZN.
Ryan Garcia is eating eggs on the dais at the start of the press conference here at T-Mobile Arena. Conor Benn obviously is not amused.
Regis Prograis gave me his breakdown of the Ryan Garcia-Conor Benn fight & his thoughts on Benn after going 10 rounds with him 5 months ago. My @ringmagazine story:

Not sure I’ve ever seen Steve Weisfeld submit such a head-scratching scorecard (95-95). Yoenli Hernandez showed some flaws tonight and was sloppy defensively, but he clearly beat Francisco Daniel Veron.
Yoenli Hernandez BEATS Francisco Veron by majority decision to improve to 11-0 🇨🇺

If you couldn’t watch it and you’re interested in details, we had a stringer ringside for Fury-Wach. Here’s his story:

Eddie Hearn gave me a take I didn’t expect on Diego Pacheco passing on the Hamzah Sheeraz title fight & facing Immanuwel Aleem on Saturday night.

Tim Tszyu didn’t get the sense Errol Spence would withdraw from their fight if he didn’t agree to fight at 160 pounds instead of 158. But he told me he doesn’t want Spence to have any excuses when he loses, so he quickly said yes. My @ringmagazine story:

Bryce Mills, a former kickboxer from the Syracuse area, took quite a different path than Emiliano Vargas to their fight tonight on the Xander Zayas-Jaron Ennis undercard at Barclays Center. My @ringmagazine story:
ringmagazine.com/news/2rwqi9…
Xander Zayas officially weighed 153.8 pounds this morning. Jaron Ennis came in at 153. The ceremonial weigh-in for their WBA/WBO 154-pound title fight Saturday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
Emiliano Vargas, The Ring’s reigning “Prospect of the Year,” is 22, just 1 year older than his father, Fernando, was when he became IBF junior middleweight champ in December 1998. Vargas, who will box Bryce Mills on Saturday night, believes he is only “one or two fights away” from fighting for a junior welterweight title. My @ringmagazine story:

Completely understand Neider Valdez wasn’t Golden Boy’s first choice to replace Joey Canoy on very short notice. Canoy’s visa issue isn’t the fault of Oscar Collazo or GBP, but this should simply have been relegated to a non-title fight. Valdez fought to a 6-round majority draw with an opponent who was 4-4 less than 3 WEEKS ago & was knocked out in the 2nd round 2 fights before that, yet he was approved by the WBO to fight for 1 of Collazo’s 105-pound titles Saturday night.
