Innovation begins with a bold idea, but it takes believers to bring it to life. 🔬
At The Lundquist Institute, scientists like Ashraf Ibrahim, PhD are turning ideas into discoveries. In this video, @IbrahimLab3 shares what innovation means to him and how TLI is fueling innovation and entrepreneurship.
Behind every discovery is a community of supporters who believe in the work that we do. Right now through June 30, for every dollar you give, TLI’s Board of Directors will give a dollar to the Institute’s Greatest Needs until $70,000 in matching funds are exhausted.
Make your gift today and help shorten the distance between discovery and cure. Visit Lundquist.org/donate.

New research has identified albumin — the most abundant protein in human blood — as a powerful natural defense against mucormycosis, a rare but often deadly fungal infection. 🧫
“This is a remarkable finding and has the potential to change the way clinicians care for mucormycosis,” said TLI Investigator @IbrahimLab3, senior author of the study published in @Nature.
The discovery opens promising pathways for albumin-based therapies and targeted immunotherapies, offering hope for patients facing this often-fatal disease.

Mucormycosis is a fungal infection that causes severe disease and fatality, especially in immunocompromised individuals. While vaccines and immunotherapeutics have been available in combating viral and bacterial infections, approved antifungal immunotherapies are lacking.
Thanks to @IbrahimLab3 and their team's #research published on @ScienceMagazine, we are advancing towards increasing the efficiency of current treatment options for Mucormycosis to improve patient outcomes — a major translational step.
