Garrison Flats Community Garden has been growing since 1997 It started on City land, and neighbours without backyards have spent nearly 30 years turning it into an inner-city oasis. People grow their own vegetables and plants, and it's become a habitat for bees and birds. Now the City wants to build affordable housing next door. lan supports more housing, but says the site could have been redesigned to make room for both. Heads up, King West! Starting in November, King St from Portland to Spadina will be under construction for about 10 months. The City is replacing 112-year-old watermains and the streetcar tracks. The work needs to happen.
