A valuable lesson from back to school night

I payed a lot of money for 6M dust today.

No matter how low your ELO is, you can always hit legend and beyond. What matters is the right mindset and willingness to adapt. I went from lowest possible ELO to a leaderboard finish in a relatively low # of games. (300 -> 3286) Summary: 🏅My goals were primarily to get resources. I also wanted to see how far I could climb again, knowing I don’t have time to play all my sets during the event week. I also committed to playing random / different teams until I reach 2000+ —— 📅 May 21st 📉I hit 300 ELO, the lowest possible 💀I lose my very first climbing battle at 300 😂 📈I consistently climb up on 5-0 or 4-1 sets until about 2300 ELO (over several days) —— 📅 May 24th 📊I get stuck for 3-4 sets in the 2500-2600 range 🥱I admittedly get a bit frustrated and I start to lose interest in the challenge so take a couple days off —— 📅 May 26th 🛠️ I commit to a single team and make appropriate move set adjustments, inspired by my teammates in Portland. 📈 Team consistently nets me 4-1s, 5-0s —— 📅 May 27th 🪙 Manage to hit legend again, which in all, took me just under 350 battles (roughly half the battles I could have played during GO Battle Week) —— (+130 games saw me climb another 280 points) I think a key piece of advice for being successful at various ELO is a willingness to adapt and test assumptions, particularly move sets or team order. At times I find myself too inflexible, and it’s likely the lesson I’ll take into next season.
