If we can do it, literally *anyone* can

i’ll always ride for real metalcore and that revival sound but i wanna see more bands chasing that style produce something that sets them apart instead of throwing an angel statue on the demo cover and playing 5-7-8 riffs with no passion

Not original but Brett Hinds was completely game-changing for my guitar playing (if I was ever asked my most important guitarists it was him, Prince, Tom Morello & Ben Weinman). He seemed like a deeply troubled person, but his art impacted me and this band forever!

Case in point, here is a song where I shamelessly tried to do a Bret Hinds impression in the opening riff and failed fairly miserably youtube.com/watch?v=-jqvI0HA…

Feel free to yell at me, but it seems like we should give the Radar guys just a smidge of grace and wait for the real facts to emerge before unleashing a dogpile on them. Performance for clout is not a valuable contribution to ending the genocide, it is purely self-serving.

This is not concrete evidence, but from how they were when they had us on, I would be *shocked* if they took this decision lightly. Our experience was of a crew of people working their arses off to support artists & do right by everyone involved.

Never have I related more to the ‘we’re losing recipes’ meme than hearing what some of you lot refer to as ‘riffs’

Eye opening read about the pressures of touring and the subsequent slew of bands breaking up in the British metal scene, including Ithaca who play their farewell show at this year's ArcTanGent. Read on @MetalHammer: loudersound.com/features/sva…

“The more successful we become, the lonelier it gets”: Why your favourite British metal bands are...

UK metal beloveds Svalbard, Orange Goblin and Ithaca will all split in the coming months. Their reasons why hint at a grim future for the country’s alternative artists.

But what excuse will festival bookers use for not having female acts on now?? Won’t someone think of them??

Just spun this album again for the first time in a few months, & I still love it. Camera Eats First is such a cool track. Such a shame they called it quits. But their music will never die. @ITHACABAND 🤘 open.spotify.com/album/6RHap…

Possibly this one off show in the UK by one of the best bands ever @bleedingthrough supported by one of the best uk bands ever @ITHACABAND set lists were killer, singing along with random people in the crowd, good feelings throughout the night! Was just an amazing night!

Endless fights about whether something does or doesn’t fit narrow genre classification gives undue credence to the ‘let people enjoy things’ beigeification crowd. Is it *good* or is it *bad*. Does it innovate, challenge or aspire to greatness or not.

Go listen to this, then listen to every band on this list, then put most of your record collection in the bin and have a rethink.

I would say this because I’m incredibly old, but what this track makes me nostalgic for is a specific air of suffocating grimness that UK hardcore had in the early-2010s. It really felt like our sound, not just another US import.
