The plan focuses on 3 transformative priorities: 🌱 PREVENT KIDNEY FAILURE (ESRD): Detect CKD earlier, slow its progression, and invest in preventive interventions, including evidence-based nutrition and lifestyle approaches. 💙 IMPROVE DIALYSIS CARE AND EXPAND PATIENT CHOICE: Promote innovation, better dialysis outcomes, home dialysis, and greater treatment options. 🫘 REFORM KIDNEY TRANSPLANTATION: Expand access to transplantation, strengthen living donation, and improve safety, accountability, and transparency. 🌟 MY TAKE: THE GOLDEN ERA OF KIDNEY NUTRITION HAS ARRIVED! For decades, many of us have advocated for greater emphasis on nutritional interventions, including plant-dominant dietary approaches, to preserve kidney function and delay progression to kidney failure. The new national plan represents an important policy opportunity to advance this vision. The long-awaited Golden Era of delaying the transition from advanced CKD to dialysis through diet, nutrition, and comprehensive kidney-protective care may finally be upon us.
