For many children in rural South Africa, access to early childhood development remains limited.
Through Kuyakhanya, IRD Global and its partners are bringing play-based learning, mental health support and meals to children,
We celebrated a major milestone: From Pilot to Expansion.
This year we brought together key stakeholders from the districts and municipalities in partnership with the Department of Basic Education in KwaZulu-Natal, to reflect on the journey,
engagement for young children and their caregivers. Here are some highlights and reflections from the key stakeholders who joined us on the day.

This month we brought Voices Unheard to the Arts Council of Pakistan in Karachi.
The film follows four people living with psychosis in India and Pakistan, in their own words. It is about recovery, community, and belonging, and about what changes
and theatre sat in the same room and spoke to each other.
Voices Unheard was produced through the @PiecesResearch programme, led by @QMUL with @IRDGlobal, Schizophrenia Research Foundation (SCARF) India, and People's Palace Projects, and funded by the @NIHRresearch
We would value your reflections on the film: https:/forms.gle/4sf644XrCHjqP1ay7

Care is not only about treating illness. It is about building systems that help people access timely care.
At IRD, we work with communities and health systems to address barriers, strengthen care pathways, and support solutions that help vulnerable communities access timely and effective care.
Because better health begins with understanding communities, responding to their needs, and ensuring no one is left behind.

This World Humanitarian Day, we recognize the people behind the work.
IRD’s field teams and community health workers are from the communities they serve, helping build trust where access to care can be limited.
They screen, counsel, refer, follow up, and connect families to care, linking health systems to grassroots support.

Did you know TB is curable? Yet stigma can prevent many people from seeking timely care.

Breastfeeding begins early, but the need for support continues.
For mothers in remote villages, questions around feeding, milk supply, newborn weight gain, fever, dehydration, or infection may come up after they have already left a health facility, and help may not be close.
The World Health Organization notes that most newborn deaths happen in the first week of life, making timely postnatal care essential.
Through postnatal counselling and Mobile Health Vans, IRD helps bring guidance closer to mothers and newborns who may otherwise be missed.
