We've been seeing a lot of these types of posts over the past few days. So we put this together as an explainer.
Now keep in mind that we (US_OGA) are the small companies that produce oil and gas - not the big boys that are fully integrated and produce, transport and run refineries. We don't do that. We just pull it out of the ground and sell it to whoever will buy it.
But those other guys are bad at explaining things because they have comms teams that are scared of their own shadows so we have to do if for them sometimes.
That won't keep some of you from yelling at us. So be it.
But yelling at us is like yelling at a farmer for the price of a box of cereal.
But here you go. This might answer some of these questions.
Trying to understand this…
In 2008, oil climbed to about $143 a barrel and gas was roughly $4.10 per gallon.
Today, oil is closer to $94 a barrel, but gas is around $4.38 per gallon.
Crude oil has fallen significantly, but prices at the pump don’t seem to reflect that difference.
What factors are keeping gas prices high?

Data centers, electrification, clean tech manufacturing.
The coming surge in electric power demand is real, and ensuring we have adequate supply is going to require a reassessment of where the energy system is currently headed.

No state has spent more money, and forced more mandates, to “get off oil and gas” than California. For 20 years.
Oil and gas today supply 75% of California’s energy, versus the national average of 70%.
Please. Stop talking about the end of oil and gas.

Recently, our friend Seth Whitehead at the IPRB produced this informative video on the harmless components of fracking fluids. Fracking is indeed safe & reduces our drilling footprint. Thanks to KOGA member Jerry Robinson, of Franklin Well Services for his great explanation.
#DidYouKnow? Illinois Basin "fracking" fluid is at least 99% water and sand, with the remaining 1% composed of harmless additives, most prominently guar beans (used in ice cream) and borax (soap). Nothing scary or secret about it! Find out more here: youtu.be/Zj0Rq48ImjY
