London bus drivers are being pushed to their limits during heatwaves like this 🌡️ While temperatures hit 30°C+, driver cabs can soar above 40°C, creating dangerous working conditions that worsen fatigue, dehydration and stress. Many drivers report faulty air conditioning, inadequate cooling systems, and pressure to keep buses running despite unsafe temperatures. Some even avoid drinking water because they don't have reliable access to toilets. This isn't just a workers' issue. it's a public safety issue. Fatigue caused by extreme heat can reduce concentration, slow reaction times and increase the risk of accidents. Through our #FightFatigueNow campaign, we're demanding urgent action from Tfl and bus companies. London's bus drivers deserve safe working conditions. Passengers deserve safe journeys. ✊ #busdriver #BusDrivers #Heatwave #LondonBuses #tfl

Europe may need more air conditioning, but cooling buildings alone won’t solve the problem. Millions of people still work, travel, and exercise outdoors. The future of heat resilience will include personal cooling technology as much as infrastructure. #HeatStress #Inuteq
UK cannot ‘air con its way’ out of this heatwave says Professor channel4.com/news/uk-cannot-…
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Professor's claim of air conditioning adding 10°C-12°C to urban outdoors temperature is wrong. A study from Phoenix, Arizona, shows a negligible daytime effect and a nighttime effect of about 1°C. A study from Tokyo, Japan, office districts shows an effect of 1°C-2°C. agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10… journals.ametsoc.org/view/journals/…

🇫🇷 ☀️ #France saw its hottest night since records began in 1947 from Monday to Tuesday, with temperatures across the country averaging 21.6C after darkness fell, according to the country’s weather agency. In #Paris, some without air-conditioning at home spent the night in parks to get relief from the heat.

Air conditioning is only part of the solution. As heatwaves become more frequent, personal cooling technologies and heat-stress management will be just as important. This is exactly the challenge companies like Inuteq have been preparing for. 🌡️❄️ #ClimateAdaptation
As climate change drives more severe and prolonged heat waves, which arrive earlier and earlier, some are questioning why wealthy European countries have been seemingly reluctant to adopt air conditioning – especially as the heat takes an increasingly deadly toll. cnn.it/4f0lklC

As extreme heat records continue to fall across Europe, organizations need to think beyond hydration alone. Personal cooling solutions can help reduce heat strain, improve comfort, and support safety during prolonged heat exposure. #HeatSafety #INUTEQ #ClimateAdaptation #staycool

🥵 44°C and rising: France braces for temperatures never seen before The country is baking under a historic heatwave, with temperatures in Paris climbing to 44°C. Schools are closing, air quality is deteriorating, and authorities are warning residents to avoid alcohol and stay hydrated as the country struggles to cope. Meteorologists say the most extreme conditions are still ahead, with record-shattering temperatures expected across much of France in the coming days.

Europe is talking about record temperatures. We should also be talking about what those temperatures mean for the people working, travelling and performing in them. Heat awareness, hydration, rest and preparation matter. #HeatStress #HeatSafety #Heatwave #inuteq #keepcool
Europe is sweltering under its second heat dome in two months, with temperatures spiking above 104 degrees Fahrenheit, bringing dangerous conditions across swaths of the planet’s fastest-warming continent. France banned public alcohol consumption, Spain closed a World Cup fan zone and the UK is bracing for an annihilation of its all-time June temperature record. cnn.it/43OKZHS

Extreme heat is a worker safety issue. Whether it’s construction, logistics, utilities, manufacturing, emergency services or transport, protecting people from heat stress is becoming an increasingly important part of workplace safety. Awareness, planning and prevention matter. #HeatSafety #WorkerSafety #HeatStress #inuteq
Today I signed an Executive Order for every worker exposed to extreme heat on the job. It requires multilingual heat safety guidance for workers, a review of construction site heat safety practices, and heat illness prevention plans at every mayoral agency. Extreme heat is a worker safety issue. The workers who build our skyline, staff our airports, stock our warehouses, and deliver our packages, keep this city running.  This executive order will ensure they come home safe at the end of every shift.

The conversation often focuses on temperature records. The real story is how people adapt to living and working in extreme heat.
I’ve just arrived in London where a severe heatwave is projected with all its dramatic consequences It's become increasingly evident that climate change is no longer a distant threat. We feel its effects now. My message at London #ClimateAction Week: More than ever we must accelerate the transition to clean energy.

Extreme heat isn’t just a comfort issue. In healthcare settings, cooling can directly affect patient wellbeing, staff performance and resilience during prolonged heat events. As heatwaves become more frequent, conversations about heat management will only become more important.

Whether it’s 30°C or 40°C, the challenge is the same: Keeping people safe, comfortable and productive when the heat is on. Stay cool, Europe.
For anyone wondering, this isn’t normal. The record for June set in 1976 will be smashed by several degrees. May end up setting a new all time temperature record, beating the 40.3°C recorded in July 2022.

45°C (113°F) is possible Monday/Tuesday in parts of western France. That’s hotter than the current forecast for Phoenix, Arizona. France is enduring one of the country’s worst heatwaves ever, due to its unprecedented duration, intensity, and extreme temperature anomalies.

We’ve spent years talking about heat management, and this is one of the most commonly overlooked factors. Temperature tells part of the story. Humidity tells the rest.
Another dangerous aspect of the European heatwave that isn’t being talked about enough is the humidity. The humidex, which combines air temperature and dew point to produce a feels-like temperature, peaked at 50°C (122°F) in France today. That is deadly heat and humidity.
