We are pleased to share that the ICMR NHRP DIGI-CARE Stakeholders Meeting was recently held in Jodhpur, bringing together representatives from ICMR Headquarters, NHSRC, C-DAC Mohali, state and district stakeholders, and project teams from five study sites to strengthen digital health interventions for hypertension and diabetes care.
Discussions focused on implementation experiences, site-specific strategies, stakeholder coordination, the transition from Model 0 to Model 1, and monitoring indicators to guide the next phase of DIGI-CARE.
A subsequent field visit to Barmer provided practical insights into ABHA linkage, NCD Portal workflows, eSanjeevani, and patient follow-up mechanisms within routine healthcare delivery.
These collaborative efforts will help advance DIGI-CARE’s goal of strengthening the continuum of care for hypertension and diabetes through digital health innovation.

Heart health is about more than the heart.
Cardiovascular, kidney and metabolic conditions are deeply connected, yet they are often treated separately.
In partnership with Atlantic Re, Prof. Dorairaj Prabhakaran, Executive Director CCDC & President-Elect, WHF spoke with leading experts about why understanding these connections can help identify cardiovascular risk earlier and create new opportunities to act.

At the International Lipid Expert Panel (ILEP) Congress 2026 in Warsaw, Poland, Prof. Dorairaj Prabhakaran, Executive Director, Centre for Chronic Disease Control (CCDC), and President-Elect, World Heart Federation (WHF), delivered a lecture titled “Should Ethnicity Decide the Ideal Lipid Biomarker Across Populations?”
Drawing on evidence from the CARRS cohort, he highlighted differences in lipid profiles among South Asians and the need to look beyond conventional LDL cholesterol measurements. He emphasised early cardiovascular risk assessment, the role of ApoB and lipoprotein(a), the importance of recognising South Asian-specific metabolic risk factors, and the need for tailored prevention strategies and further research to improve cardiovascular outcomes.

CCDC is delighted to join the legacy of the Cambridge Seminar as the host organisation this year, along with our long-standing partners IMS Epidemiology, @Cambridge_Uni and @aiims_newdelhi (All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi), with support from @novonordiskfond
Established in 1981 to provide a globally accessible forum for understanding the population health aspects of diabetes and its prevention, the seminar has expanded the horizon of individual patient care among those who have already developed diabetes. The Seminar continues this vision today to build capacity for diabetes research, shedding light on its causation and its primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention.
With the unabated rise in the prevalence of diabetes worldwide and its particular heavy public health burden in India and the sub-continent, there is a pressing need to both manage the condition and to increase understanding of its causes and its prevention. It follows that greater investment is needed in building research capacity to achieve these aims, but such opportunities are limited. In particular, the wider public health context of diabetes has received little prominence in educational, healthcare and social systems.
It is, therefore, with great excitement that we bring the Cambridge Seminar to India for the first time with 50 brilliant delegates chosen out of 150+ applications from across India.
We are also fortunate to have amongst us our decorated faculty members @SorenBrage, Prof Juliana Chan, Prof Dana Dabelea, Prof William Herman, Prof Moffat Nyirenda, Prof Nick Wareham, Prof Daniel Witte, Dr Anjana Ranjit Mohan, Prof Ambrish Mithal, Prof Denis Xavier
We welcome all the faculty members and delegates to the 15th Cambridge Seminar on the epidemiological and public health aspects of diabetes mellitus. Onwards!

In collaboration with our long-standing partner, the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation (MDRF), along with Dr Anjana Mohan and Dr Ranjani Harish, CCDC co-organised a HIIT and dance workshop for 80 female workforce members and their teenage daughters.
Aligned with this year's theme, “Don't Miss a Beat,” the initiative highlighted the importance of active lifestyles in supporting women's cardiovascular health.
As we conclude this series, CCDC reaffirms its commitment to advancing cardiovascular health through research, prevention, meaningful partnerships, and community engagement.
