Sixteen years ago today, IMMY made its first-ever sale of the CrAg® LFA. The CrAg® LFA detects cryptococcal antigen and is intended as an aid in the diagnosis of cryptococcosis, with a 10-minute test run time. Behind every test strip is the work of our scientists, manufacturing and quality teams, regulatory staff, and the customer support specialists who have partnered with laboratories since that first order. Thank you to everyone, past and present, who has been part of this story, and to the laboratorians and clinicians we serve, and the patients they care for. Here's to our sweet 16.

Happy Manufacturing Day! That's a wrap on Manufacturing Week. Thank you to our manufacturing team for sharing your stories, your expertise and a few unwritten rules along the way. And thank you to the manufacturing teams across the country who keep things moving every day. Here's to 15 years of Manufacturing Day and the next generation of makers.

Every workplace has its unwritten rules, and manufacturing is no exception. Meet a few members of our manufacturing team in Part 1 of our quick-fire interviews.

What is the difference between manufacturing science and other types of sciences? How does someone build a career in manufacturing science? These and other questions answered in a brief interview with Karen, Senior Scientist in Manufacturing here at IMMY.

We asked our team: What's one thing people don't know about manufacturing in Oklahoma?

Walk with us this week. 🏭 It's National Manufacturing Week, and we're spotlighting the IMMY team members who make our diagnostics right here in Norman, Oklahoma. All week we'll share interviews with our manufacturing team: what their jobs involve, what people often don't know about manufacturing in Oklahoma, what drew them to this work, and some fun along the way! On Friday, October 2, we'll wrap up on Manufacturing Day, which marks its 15th anniversary this year.

IMMY recognizes World Lung Day. Every course of antibiotics that doesn't work is a diagnosis still waiting to happen. This World Lung Day, a reminder: fungal pneumonias like Valley fever, histoplasmosis, and blastomycosis are often diagnosed and treated as bacterial Community-Acquired Pneumonia— delaying the antifungal therapy patients actually need. At IMMY, closing that diagnostic gap is the work. What's your institution's threshold for considering a fungal cause in non-resolving pneumonia?

Don't forget to sign up for our webinar happening Sept 25th! Diagnosing invasive fungal infections remains one of the greatest challenges clinicians face today. Biomarker testing can offer valuable insight, but questions often remain about when to test, how to interpret results, and how those findings shape clinical decisions. Join Dr. Jorge Abarca, Consultant in Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology, for an educational webinar exploring real-world cases where fungal biomarkers helped address common diagnostic dilemmas. We had blast last week in Colorado at the 5th annual Mycoses Study Group Education and Research Consortium (MSGERC). There were some 🍄fun-guys and fun-gals🍄 there representing IMMY! Thank you to all of the researchers, clinicians, and advocates in Colorado who shared their research and insights. We look forward to continued collaborations and being part of the mycology community to push diagnostic boundaries forward.

Emerging and resistant pathogens like Candidozyma auris highlight an urgent need: our diagnostic tools and treatments must keep pace. Awareness is a vital first step, but continued research and development are essential to advancing fungal diagnostics and therapeutics. As we close out Fungal Disease Awareness Week, we remain committed to supporting better science for earlier, more accurate detection.

That "ringworm" that won't respond to the cream? It might not be ringworm. Or it might be a fungus the over-the-counter treatment doesn't cover. Fungal skin infections can look almost identical to eczema, psoriasis, or a bacterial skin infection, which is exactly why they're so often treated by appearance alone instead of confirmed. Wrong diagnosis, wrong treatment, longer time to actually clearing it up. This Fungal Disease Awareness Week: if a skin condition isn't responding the way it should, see a healthcare provider for an actual diagnosis and think fungus.

✈️ Fungal infections are often tied to specific places. The people who catch them don't stay there. If you've traveled recently and think you might have a fungal infection, tell your healthcare provider where you've been. That detail can be the difference between a fungal infection getting caught and getting missed. Think fungus — and mention the travel.

Antifungal resistance is a real and growing problem — and it's one most people have never heard of. With only three classes of antifungals available and no vaccines against fungal disease, resistance means fewer options are working. Resistant infections don't look any different at first — they just don't respond the way they should. Think fungus.

🍄 An infection that won't clear isn't always bacterial. Fungal diseases are increasing worldwide, but they're still frequently misdiagnosed or undiagnosed — largely because early symptoms look so much like bacterial infection. That mix-up matters: it often means patients get antibiotics instead of the antifungals they actually need, and misusing either drug class can fuel resistance. With only three classes of antifungals available and no vaccines for fungal disease, catching it early matters more than usual. This Fungal Disease Awareness Week: if an infection isn't responding to treatment, ask your provider whether it could be fungal.
