The widespread condemnation of looting by the ruling class and their ideologues is really the reflection of an inverted world where things—dead labor—take priority and rule over people. The economic relation between things is privileged over the social relation between people.

The growth of private property—capital—is sacrosanct but the nourishment and development of living people is secondary to the voracious appetite of capital to grow at their expense. Their revolt against private property is seen as desecration of the social order of dead labor.

Many Marxists have not reckoned with the fact that almost 50% of Africans are rural smallholder/subsistent farmers and a subsequent 30% or more are petty traders/lumpen. The proletariat are an ABSOLUTE minority in the continent and revolution will not look like a western one

HUGE: Spain’s biggest unions have announced a nationwide general strike over housing issues on November 11, just two weeks before a newly called snap election. Rising rents and evictions have taken center stage in the country over the last month, leading to massive protests and a proposed eviction moratorium which was shot down by the conservative elements in Parliament. Now the country's two largest unions, UGT and CCOO, have agreed to strike together for the first time in 14 years, with other unions set to join as well.
