🙏Thanks @unipotsdam and SFB 1636 for the great week at Light.Metal.Reactions 2026! Thanks Ilko, Matias, Felix, et al for the great organization! Nice to meet with so many friends!😍
Paper is now out, congratulations to Nele and all!
Key insight: in the dilute regime the structure of PEG-coated Au-nanoparticles seems not affected, their diffusion follows the pressure-dependent viscosity of water.

This is in contrast to several earlier studies at very high particle concentrations where we found indications of pressure-induced changes of the polymer shell and even formation of supercrystals when (a lot of) salt was added

Two conferences in the recent week and unfortunately I could just attend one: Light.Metal.Reactions in Potsdam, which was focused on Plasmonic Photocatalysis with nice contributions from theory, experimental physics and chemistry. uni-potsdam.de/en/lmr2026
At the same time we had the NanaX11 in Lecce, with many colleagues from Hamburg ( @BiophotonicsUHH ) and all over the world.
I'm very happy to hear that Sarodi and Juan both won a poster prize, congratulations!!!
Congratulations to Abhishek and Kartik and his team + all collaborators. Their single particle imaging (SPI) study on virus capsid structure evolution hydration/dehydration is now published:

If you happen to be in Wien today and have some time in the afternoon feel invited to join this seminar (on plasmonic nanoparticles of course ☺️) and discussion:

Thanks to the organizers @bardmital and @JamesKUtterback ! Very nice and interesting symposium.

It's nice to see that my particles are used as tracers for testing the newest generation of detectors 😍

A nice transient absorption based study on energy conversion in hybrid nanostructures (Au-Pd). Fig. 5 sums it all up: on picosecond timescales the Pd "satellites" heat up much more efficiently than the gold "core"...

We measured the self-assembly of nanoparticles with a vertical SAXS geometry allowing to oberve the formation and densification of the superlattice nicely, the experiment is described here:

Out now in Nanotoday @ElsevierConnect !
Interesting Paper on how the encaspulation of Gold nanocluster in a biodegradable polymer matrix changes their endo- and exocytosis:

Here you can see one example of pentagonal nanobipyramids self-assembled into a beautiful superstructure. At the edges we can also discern what seems to be the "soft" polymer coating.
The crystalline domains can be quite large, but they don't form everywhere, we also observe amorphous domains.
The structures and their plasmonic properties are discussed herein:

Very happy that this paper is now out, open access! A nice cooperation of colloidal chemistry, electron microscopy and nanooptics/spectroscopy experts from Paris, Berlin and Hamburg.
