We celebrate yet another new baby #gorilla!
Le Parc National des Virunga est ravi d’annoncer que les pisteurs communautaires ont récemment observé une nouvelle naissance au sein de la famille Humba. Ndala, une femelle âgée de 12 ans, a donné naissance à un petit mâle.
Avec cette nouvelle naissance, la famille Humba compte désormais 19 individus. Il s’agit de la deuxième naissance enregistrée dans cette famille en 2026 et la 16ᵉ recensée depuis le début de l’année parmi les gorilles de montagne suivis dans le secteur de Mikeno.
Les équipes de terrain poursuivront le suivi rapproché de Ndala et de son nouveau-né, en portant une attention particulière à leur évolution au cours des premières semaines.

Today, Rwanda Biomedical Centre, in collaboration with One Health partners, joined residents of Kinigi in Musanze District to mark World Rabies Day and raise awareness about preventing rabies and other zoonotic diseases.
As part of ongoing efforts around Volcanoes National Park, residents brought their dogs for registration, vaccination, and sterilization.
These actions help prevent dog bites, reduce the risk of rabies transmission, and protect both people and animals.
