WITHDRAWAL OF OFFER OF GOVERNMENT FUNDING
The Co-Chairs of @IFNetUK have today received a letter from Secretary of State Rt Hon Michael Gove MP saying that funding offered, subject to conditions, to IFN in July 2023 for the period until March 2024 would not be provided. The reasons are foreshadowed in his earlier letter of 19 January to them and relate to the inclusion on IFN's Board of a Trustee who is a member of the Muslim Council of Britain. IFN's Board meets tomorrow and a statement will be issued in due course.

LIKELY IMMINENT CLOSURE OF @IFNetUK
The Board of the Inter Faith Network for the UK has, with great regret, taken an in principle decision to move towards closure of the organisation due to lack of funding. That closure will be confirmed, on 22 February unless by that time the £155,000 funding offered by the Government on 7 July 2023 for work from July 2023 to March 2024 is finally made available or other equivalent funds received. Two weeks remain to try and bring a resolution to this issue and enable IFN's work for #interfaith understanding and cooperation to continue.

Thank you for this invitation today @JustinWelby it’s been a challenging period of time for so many.
Meeting His Majesty the King & hearing his genuine belief in the importance of the work on the ground has been an honour.
Thank you to @IFWeek @WellspringsT @nearneighbours – at Yorkshire and The Humber, England
It has been a huge honour to welcome His Majesty the King to @lampallib today to meet with faith leaders from across the UK as part of #InterFaithWeek.
These are challenging times for faith communities in the UK, particularly with the ongoing war in the Middle East.
The King’s visit was a wonderful encouragement to remain united in partnership and friendship – as many people of faith are doing across the country.
Jesus calls us to be peacemakers, and that is especially important right now. I hope this visit by the King inspires the @churchofengland to continue in our calling to love our neighbours and help bring communities together.
