Researchers at CityUHK debuted four projects at the Silicon Valley International Invention Festival (SVIIF) 2024, focusing on healthcare, sustainability, clean energy, and biomedical research. The CityUHK teams achieved outstanding results, winning five awards, including one Semi-Grand Prix and four Gold Medals.

🚀 #CityUHK research teams have achieved remarkable success at the Silicon Valley International Invention Festival (#SVIIF) 2025! The 9 participating projects, spanning healthcare, sustainability, renewable energy, and biomedical research, have received accolades, winning a total of 12 medals, including 3 Special Prizes, 7 Gold Medals, and 2 Silver Medals. Joining this festival for the second year running, CityUHK highlighted its remarkable research strengths by securing more Special Prizes than any other Hong Kong institution at SVIIF this year. 🎖️ Special Prize: 💎 PRISTINZ Anti-thermal Glass Led by President Freddy Boey, President of CityUHK, and Professor Goh Chin Foo of the Knowledge Transfer Office, this innovation has won the IFIA Best Invention Award and the Gold Medal. 💎 Breath AI – Breath Diagnostics Powered by AI Also led by President Boey, this project has won the Thailand Award for the Best International Invention & Innovation, presented by the National Research Council of Thailand, and the Gold Medal. 💎 Novel Oxygen-Economising Photosensitiser: Zinc (II) Phthalocyanine Substituted with NO-releasing Moieties for Enhanced Photodynamic Therapy against Hypoxic Tumours Led by Professor Lo Pui-chi and Professor Chow Kwan-ting from the Department of Biomedical Sciences, this project has won the International Innovation Exhibition ARCA Award, presented by the Croatian Union of Innovations, and the Silver Medal. 🔗 Learn more about the CityUHK projects at SVIIF 2025: go.cityu.hk/oo5tbj
