Day 2 of the #JapanLAC Business Forum 2026 was all about turning dialogue into business opportunities between #Japan and #LatinAmerica and the #Caribbean. 🤝 Business matchmaking connected Japanese companies and investors with private-sector firms and Investment Promotion Agencies from 21 IDB Group member countries, generating 660 one-on-one meetings. 🌎 Participants explored investment opportunities across the region, while practical seminars highlighted IDB-financed procurement opportunities through BID for the Americas and new avenues for collaboration under the Japan–LAC Business and Financial Partnership. The IDB Group is strengthening our partnership with @jica_direct_en – expanding resources to $6.5 billion, which, combined with the expected co-financing this generates, means $14 billion in financing for development in Latin America and the Caribbean.  This enhanced partnership includes expanding JICA’s CORE facility and TADAC trust fund, with new investments in critical minerals, the private sector, and other areas, plus new agreements on health and care systems. Durante dos días, el Foro reúne a más de 1.000 participantes y 400 empresas de 24 países para impulsar los negocios, la inversión y el comercio entre Japón y América Latina y el Caribe. Japan's Minister of Finance Satsuki Katayama and IDB Group President Ilan Goldfajn opened the Japan-LAC Business Forum 2026 in Tokyo today! The Forum is bringing together 1,000+ participants and 400+ companies from 24 countries to advance business, investment, and trade between Japan and Latin America and the Caribbean, with a focus on critical minerals, energy, digital transformation, agribusiness, the silver economy, and other key sectors. To mark the 50th anniversary of the Japan-IDB Group partnership, we announced a historic cooperation package that expands resources from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to generate approximately $14 billion in financing for the region. Hoy hablé con el presidente Abelardo de la Espriella para transmitirle personalmente este mensaje y conversar sobre la respuesta ante la emergencia. Colombia cuenta con el Grupo BID con hasta US$300 millones en financiamiento contingente para emergencias. Y además estamos listos para aportar US$500 mil para asistencia humanitaria y evaluación de daños —en recursos no reembolsables— en este duro momento. ——— My full solidarity with Colombia and the communities affected by the earthquake. Today, I spoke with President Abelardo de la Espriella to personally convey this message and discuss the emergency response. Colombia can count on the IDB Group, with up to US$300 million in contingent financing for emergencies.
