Technology and teamwork led to another successful arrest for @ICS_K9 PSD Bruno! ๐๐
On October 13, just before 7:45pm, officers responded to a robbery in the 2800-block of Douglas Street. A male suspect allegedly pointed bear mace at the victim and then stole cash along with the victim's iPhone.
Using Apple's iPhone tracking capabilities, officers located the suspect in the 700-block of Topaz Avenue. All it took was a bark from Bruno to get the suspect to surrender.
The suspect was arrested without incident and held in custody for court. Cash and the iPhone were recovered thanks to the quick thinking of investigators and assistance from PSD Bruno.
Now that's a good boy!

Thanks @HarbourCats for inviting @vicpdcanada & @ICS_K9 on Forces Friday. Sgt Ewer did a pregame K9 demo and his lab Maverick were a big hit. VicPD hosted the Indigenous community as part of our relationship building efforts. An exciting comeback win! Great crowd, great fans!

You gotta love field trips! Our @SPD_Community & @ICS_K9 provided 20 kids from a local out-of-school program an exciting tour of @SaanichPolice. Demonstrations from police dogs Havoc & Maverick + hands on our motorcycles, cars and boats = fun, memories & future officers!๐#yyj

Yesterday our unit helped @saanichpolice send off (Retired) Inspector Morgan, who was our unitโs OIC since its inception in 2021. Steve was a dog handler earlier in his career and was instrumental in allowing our integrated unit to grow and succeed in its first few years.
Thank for your service to @saanich Steve, and enjoy your well earned retirement!

It is with heavy hearts we share the passing of another one of our furry partners - Police Service Dog Zender.
Zender retired from service earlier this month due to a brain tumour & attempts to extend his life were unfortunately unsuccessful.
