Our library catalogue will be offline for a bit.
📚Books, files and librarians still available : email 📩 [email protected] if you need any support while we're offline. We might even get to do some digging in the good old card catalogue (ok, a bit unnecessary, but fun).

🎲The latest addition to our collection of IHL educational materials is a board game developed by the University of Johannesburg @go2uj and the ICRC @ICRC_SAfrica.
Congratulations for the launch of "Rapid Response: IHL", we can't wait to try it during our next team building! 🎲
After World War II, the world made a promise: even in war, there are limits we must never cross. That promise became the Geneva Conventions, a universal commitment to protect civilians, the wounded, prisoners of war and humanitarian workers, among others.
Today, with over 130 armed conflicts worldwide, twice as many as 15 years ago, these rules are under immense pressure. Over 110 countries have joined the Global Initiative on international humanitarian law to strengthen commitment to the rules that limit suffering in war.
The Geneva Conventions do not protect the powerful. They protect people caught in war. And upholding them is the responsibility of every country on Earth.

📢Because #autonomousweapons are no longer a distant threat: ahead of the 2026 CCW Review Conference, the ICRC calls for action to prohibit certain autonomous weapons and restrict all others.

Our library's first catalogue was handwritten. Later on, a card catalogue was adopted: each publication had its own card summarising key info about it. Today, our online catalogue allows you to access our collections instantly, wherever you are! #WorldBookDay

Today, we take a step back in time to share with you the story of the @ICRC. It all began with a book: “A Memory of Solferino”. ⬇️
