Just today, the Teamsters Union has won five organizing victories, including Southern Glazer’s workers across Oklahoma, UPS admins and specialists in Tennessee, juvenile protective services workers in Illinois, and public sector workers in multiple townships across Ohio. Our organizing momentum will not be stopped.

In the last month alone, the Teamsters organized more than 3,000 new members across diverse industries. Workers are organizing with the Teamsters in record numbers because life’s better in North America’s strongest union.

GENERAL EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETS IN D.C. Following the successful 31st International Convention this summer, the Teamsters General Executive Board convened for its third meeting of the year on Tuesday at International Union headquarters in Washington, DC. All International Vice Presidents and Trustees representing more than 330 local unions across the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico heard reports on the state of the union from Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien. The board received and unanimously approved financial reports from Teamsters General Secretary-Treasurer Fred Zuckerman as well. Operational updates were prepared and delivered by directors of multiple Teamsters departments, including Organizing, Strategic Initiatives, and Political and Legislative Action. “On the heels of having successfully organized more than 100,000 new rank-and-file members in just the last four years, the Teamsters Union is committed to organizing at least 250,000 more new members over the next term of our administration,” O’Brien said. “We are running hundreds of local and national campaigns, we are wielding our strategic political influence and leverage to amplify our members’ voices, and we are increasing our firepower at the bargaining table and on the strike line to win the best contracts in all of labor. The state of our union today is more powerful than it’s been in generations — and the Teamsters are only getting stronger.” The Teamsters General Executive Board will keep meeting and reviewing contract and organizing campaigns throughout the day. Board meetings will continue on Wednesday.

Led by Secretary-Treasurer Tom Mari, Joint Council 10 fiercely represents tens of thousands of hardworking Teamsters across New England. O’Brien and Zuckerman addressed attendees about the shared accomplishments and priorities of the Joint Council and the International Union. “The Teamsters are firing on all cylinders. We’re channeling the militancy of our membership in a way we haven’t done in generations. And we are delivering undeniable results,” O’Brien said. “I know firsthand that Joint Council 10 is one of the most effective and militant affiliates in the entire Teamsters Union. That’s why you’ve been at the forefront of so much of the progress we’ve made organizing new workers and fighting Corporate America. But know this: we’re just getting started.”

O’BRIEN, ZUCKERMAN, AMAZON TEAMSTERS RALLY FOR DELIVERY PROTECTION ACT Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien and General Secretary-Treasurer Fred Zuckerman rallied with hundreds of Amazon Teamsters, allies, and New York elected officials at Teamsters Local 282 to urge the New York City Council to pass the Delivery Protection Act. The bill would require Amazon and other delivery companies operating in New York City to license their facilities and make Amazon’s third-party Delivery Service Partner model illegal within the five boroughs. “Amazon’s Delivery Service Partner model is the most dangerous business model in America today. It allows Amazon to break the law while hiding behind shell companies it has total control over,” O’Brien said. “The Delivery Protection Act is the blueprint for how workers can fight back against Amazon’s greed. The New York City Council must pass this critical legislation and do its part to protect American workers.”
