Three young children, ages 3 to 5, started to drown underneath a capsized boat as their parents screamed for help. The boat had flipped with nine people on board, and while the others made it out, the three smallest children were still trapped underneath. Their parents couldn’t reach them, and every second they remained under the water mattered. Nearby, Jason Horne heard their screams. He told his 12 year old daughter to call 911, jumped into the water and dove underneath the overturned boat. He found the first child and pulled him out conscious and coughing. Then Jason went back underneath and found a 5 year old girl who wasn’t breathing. He got her onto the overturned boat and immediately started CPR until she finally gasped and opened her eyes. But there was still another child trapped underneath. Jason dove back in. The third child, a 3 year old boy, was eventually pulled free tangled in rope and without a pulse. Jason immediately began CPR for a second time as they rushed toward shore, and before they reached the dock, the little boy started breathing. All three children survived. Jason went under that boat again and again until every one of those kids was breathing. I think a dad like that deserves a little recognition today.
