It's important to share these videos. FSD is extremely impressive for running only on cameras and a 3-year-old computer, but it's nowhere near the level it needs to be for unsupervised self-driving.
It still makes dumb and dangerous mistakes like this one, and if you are not ready to correct it like this guy was, you'll be dead, and Tesla will blame you right away.
This is one of the most concerning FSD interventions I’ve seen.
FSD 14.3.5, Australia, Hurry mode, on a two-way 100 km/h highway, today.
My friend Troy was following a car doing ~85 km/h when FSD accelerated toward 100 and initiated an overtake, despite not having a clear view far enough down the oncoming lane.
Then an oncoming car appeared.
Troy immediately braked and disengaged. At those speeds, there was very little margin for error.
Initially I blamed vision-only, but LiDAR probably wouldn't have solved this either. The oncoming car was occluded by the vehicle ahead.
That's actually the bigger problem. FSD couldn't see what was coming... and went anyway.
Occluded doesn't mean clear. It means UNKNOWN.
And even supervised, that's concerning. Troy was hypervigilant and reacted immediately. What if the driver was distracted for just a few seconds?
FSD can be incredibly impressive, but potentially catastrophic decisions like this are why I don't believe Tesla is anywhere near having autonomy solved yet.
Before you remove the human safety net, these are the failures you have to engineer out.
Can't confirm it's clear? Don't overtake.
I find it hard to believe someone could be this idiotic.... but if he carries this mind thought all this child's life.... God help her and anyone she comes in contact with....
If you think this could never happen or be abused.... you must not remember when marijuana became medically legal in California, and the massive increase in cases where it was prescribed as a cure.
You have to want to see it.... which I find sad, if you have nothing better to do with your time then insert racism into everything, it is just not a productive use of your time....

If they truly hated America, and thought is was as terrible a place as they want you to believe... they would leave for one of the multiple countries they say are better... but they never do, because they aren't buying what they are selling.
What I can't get past is, she strangled not one, not two, but three kids... the time that took, and, even if she was in a manic episode, she had the mental clarity to carry all that out, ANd send her husband away when she did it.
When I was in school, if the school would have tried to pull crap like this... if I had to guess... the entire board would be booted off. I know my parents wouldn't have put up with it.
The NEA sued this Rhode Island mom Nicole Solas for asking about her daughter’s kindergarten curriculum specifically re gender identity .
She was told to file for it, and when she did she was publicly humiliated by the teachers union at a school board meeting. She was told she needed to pay 74,000 dollars in records fees then she was sued .
The lawsuit was dropped against Solas as they realized they had very weak Legal standing.
Solas, however counter sued the school district for the records, and any lawyers fees she incurred, and she won .

Today is the third Friday of September, also known as National Tradesmen Day. To celebrate, a young and cheeky editor at mikeroweWORKS has assembled a video to remind the world about what I looked like 18 years ago, back when I boldly proclaimed my intention to reinvigorate the skilled trades with some sort of ad hoc PR initiative.
Looking back, I think you’ll agree my performance – delivered after several beers on Labor Day of 2008 - was a fairly cringe-worthy spasm of uncharacteristic earnestness. It was, however, well-intended, and useful I think, in rallying others who shared my sentiment. In fact, a few years later in 2011, when Irwin Tools decided to launch National Tradesman Day, they called upon me to announce the occasion, which I was delighted to do. In return, Irwin donated $10,000 to my newly formed foundation, which I used to help fund our first round of work ethic scholarships.
Since then, lots of other likeminded companies and organizations have asked me to help them launch similar efforts to reinvigorate the trades, including the latest initiative from the Pentagon called BuildFreedom.US. I agreed, and in return, Build Freedom has donated $10 million dollars to mikeroweWORKS, which we’ll spend on the next round of work ethic scholarships. And so, we appear to be trending in the right direction.
Anyway, enjoy the attached video, a genuine blast from my past, and hopefully, an accurate look into the future. Better yet, share it with it someone in the trades, and help us commemorate National Tradesman Day by reminding the country that many excellent opportunities in the skilled trades are waiting to be filled, and that mikeroweWORKS is here to pay for the training you need to get started.
