Seattle neighbors are raising concerns about the City of Seattle's budget proposal and what it will mean for delays in fire service response time. Unless changes are made, this budget will delay 9-1-1 responses in EVERY neighborhood. thecentersquare.com/washingt…

This budget proposal will sideline YOUR fire trucks and fire engines and reduce the daily Fire Fighter staffing needed during an emergency. The City Council can prevent this by prioritizing public safety and restoring critical Fire Fighter staffing investments in the budget.

“I want firefighters. We talk about public safety. I understand law enforcement is a huge element of public safety, but so are the firefighting services.” “I do think it would be great if they could figure out other areas where they could save some money." mynorthwest.com/kiro-opinion…

Under this proposed budget, Fire Fighter staffing levels would decrease, stations and engines would go offline, and response times would get longer. That's the wrong approach. Let's put public safety first and invest in the Fire Fighter staffing needed to respond in an emergency.

🔥 On this day in #firefighter history in 1889, the Great Seattle #Fire destroyed the entire central business district. The city responded by establishing @SeattleFire, increasing the number of hydrants, and changing the city's building codes. @Iaff27
