For 40 years, Vancouver grew. Its fire service didn’t. From 1979 to 2019, the city added 250,000 people and the number of Vancouver firefighters stayed completely flat. 🧵 1/3

Our members want to build their lives in Vancouver. Many simply can't afford to. It's getting harder to recruit firefighters to Vancouver, and harder to keep them here. A lot of our workforce lives outside the city, not by choice, but because of cost. 🧵 1/3
