He released 'Relentless' with us in 2023 and has become a fixture on the Chicago footwork scene with output on @Moveltraxx and a barrage of self-released material. ‘Walk Ya Down’ is dark and grimy, riding on a 4/4 kick drum with a ravey, twisted synth line, wrapped around a bitter sample. ‘Ghetto Story 2’ is a less moody affair and catchy as hell, with the kind of airy pads which are a lasting link from old Detroit techno to footwork, lifting up sugary, flipped and chopped vocal samples over rolling toms. 3TWI (عتوي) the new EP from @FatimaAlQadiri, is Kuwaiti Arabic femme slang for dirty old man, literally meaning “tomcat.” 'Over four regional club tracks, Al Qadiri explores the gaze of this sleazy yet pitiful background character with long-time friends and vocal collaborators Bobo Secret, Lama3an and Gumar. Conceptually, the EP follows Al Qadiri’s long-term preoccupation with dance music, gender identity and performance in West Asia. The video for the lead single, "7ilween," which loosely translates as 'Pretty Young Things,' is directed by long-term collaborator and artist Sophia Al-Maria and produced by NG Partners. As part of the EP's creative concept, an extended version of the 7ilween music video will be projected in several international art institutions throughout 2027, to be announced in the coming months. Shot in London and Baghdad, starring Faris, Aseel, Safa and Rasha, 7ilween is both a homage to popular Iraqi dance music videos and queer Gulf memes with a touch of Shaneera, the artist’s evil nightlife persona.
