our stories don't live in words alone. they live in the eyes, the hands, the pause before the big line, the right tone shift.
watching @Evan_Mann of @SuperteamUSA, @RUMSHQ break down founder pitches at @HypeBootcamp's demo day felt like sitting in on a film set debrief. these are the tips that turn founders from explaining their product to inviting us to dream with them.
We had a fantastic last minute addition to our Demo Day panel - @Evan_Mann of @RUMSHQ and @SuperteamUSA
Evan Mann is the founder and Chief Storytelling Officer of Rise Up Media, a crypto-native media & education company helping everyday people understand what blockchain is, why it matters, and how to use it well.
He is also the Strategic Advisor for Founder Performance and Narrative Strategy at Superteam USA. He helps founders develop the stories, presence, and influence required to lead in public; and build ambitious ideas into movements people intuitively understand, trust, and want to help carry forward.
With a background in acting, teaching, media, and strategic communication, Evan lives at the frontier of social capital. His work is built on the belief that - in an increasingly interconnected world - the ability to earn attention, set agendas, make meaning, and mobilize people is the most consequential form of capital a founder can cultivate. He helps others become people capable of creating categories, shaping culture, and sharing ideas that will define the future.

Staying "private" or "in the background" has a very real cost for your business.
These extra 10-20% on paid aquision.
These extra 2-3 months of clients or investors "considering."
It adds up.
The cost of neglecting social is higher than most founders realize.
For B2C:
1. Higher customer acquisition costs. Less organic discovery means greater reliance on paid acquisition.
2. Your competitors become the benchmark. If you’re absent, someone else defines what “good” looks like in your category.
3. Weaker brand affinity. People are more likely to buy from brands they recognize and remember. Familiarity makes buying easier.
4. Harder crisis management. Trust is much harder to build when people are already upset. A social presence helps you build that trust before you need it.
For B2B:
1. Longer sales cycles. Prospects have to learn everything during sales conversations instead of arriving already familiar with your company.
2. Lower discoverability, which means fewer inbound opportunities. Every channel you ignore is one less way for people to find your company.
3. Weaker category authority. The companies people learn from often become the reference point for the category.
The opportunity cost is easy to miss because it doesn’t appear all at once.
Whenever you pitch your story to a publication, they will look you up.
Don't wave red flags at them.
@CamiRusso of the @DefiantNews came by and shared her perspective with the Summer Cohort.
Most people would rather stay quiet, miss out on great opportunities, and hurt their business than risk saying something that turns out to be wrong and makes them look and feel stupid.
Don't be most people.
@kapuster shares tips on how.
"There is no failure" therefore there's no reason not to build in public and think in public.
Chamath Palihapitiya @chamath "Bro, there is no failure."
"That is what other people think of you to keep you down. There's no failure. If you were left on an island and it happened, you would just brush it off and move on. It's everybody else that you think is judging you. But then, here's the secret. They don't give a fuck about you. They are living their own lives. So it's your perception of what they think of you."
"There is no failure. There's do and learn. Do and learn. Do and learn. Do and learn."
@StanfordAILab
"Let the work speak for itself" is a classic many of us use to talk ourselves out of building a public presence.
We stay comfortably private. And we pay for it dearly. Later.
Truth is, there is no contradiction between doing the work and building a public presence. It's all part of reputation.
Here's a little snippet from the first session of the Summer Cohort.

The Bootcamp summer cohort has kicked off!! We're so excited to work with this season's group.
Over the next four weeks, they'll be learning more about the necessity of a personal brand and how to build it, plus get the training, mock interviews, messaging, and all the tools to really start hyping their stories.
Welcome to the cohort @_rinit @PauluneMoon @afoxinweb3 @janpevzner @Apssolut!! Let's get started on building your story.
Huge congratulations to our winners of the @shefi
Inner Circle scholarship for The Bootcamp summer cohort!

Karen Liu
Head of Marketing, BitRobot Network
Karen is a marketing leader and growth strategist spanning traditional finance, DeFi, and robotics & AI. She previously worked at State Street Global Advisors, where she owned ETF marketing across APAC. She has since led GTM, partnerships, and brand for Magic Eden, USD .AI, MetaStreet, and BitRobot.
Pauline Mila-Alonso
Product Designer, PauluneMoon / Coplex
Pauline partners with crypto founders and fintech teams to design flows people actually trust, from the first tap to the signed transaction.
She's building Coplex, an infinite canvas that lets developers manage terminals, editors, and browsers spatially. She previously co-founded WeSplit, a Solana app for splitting expenses.
She believes the next wave of crypto adoption won't be won by the flashiest interfaces, but by the products that make normal people feel confident doing things that used to feel scary. Her mission is to design those products, and to help more builders tell the stories behind the tools they create.
Rini Tikarya
Founding Engineer, Datadash
Rini is a software engineer and founding engineer at Datadash, where she's helping build a social intelligence layer for prediction markets and perps.
She has spent the past few years building infrastructure and data systems in the Web3 ecosystem, with a focus on making complex blockchain data more accessible and reliable.
Beyond engineering, Rini is passionate about making Web3 more approachable. She hopes to inspire more developers to explore the space through storytelling.

The story you tell yourself is what you bring into reality.
Having 15 years of writing experience, I've learned there's immense power in discovering one's inner truth and story.
The way we tell our stories literally shapes the way we look at our inner and outer worlds: from the way we of think them in our thoughts consciously/ unconsciously, to eventually how those thoughts manifest in the outside world in long run.

I've spent the last year shipping products solo across different ecosystems, one after another, hitting impossible deadlines. And here's what nobody tells you: the tech was never the hard part. The hard part is going from building to traction — and that's just storytelling in disguise. You don't win by building the best thing, you win by telling it best. Code doesn't fund itself
@HypeBootcamp
We are so excited to announce the winners of The Bootcamp Summer Cohort scholarship!
Jan Pevzner, CEO of Exchequer Finance, is joining The Bootcamp with the goal of sharpening his messaging for different audiences. With Exchequer, @janpevzner is working to build foundational infrastructure for crypto rather than an app on top of it. He understands that if the solution doesn’t exist, the ecosystem hits a ceiling. Exchequer will build it right.
Product Marketer Aparna Narayanan has joined The Bootcamp with the intention of looking inward and working on her own story. For the last decade, @Apssolut has written other people’s and products’ stories into being, from global brands in web2, energy, sustainability, and crypto. She’s ready to spend some time thinking about her story (and even get a little uncomfortable while doing it).
Our third scholarship recipient is currently in stealth mode and staying anon for now. Our team is excited about what they’re building and looking forward to seeing them share their story (in due time) with the world.
Welcome scholars! We are so excited to work with you this summer!
Your stories are assets. And they're yield bearing.
There's the surface level stuff. And then there's that 👀
Storytelling is primordial. It's how our ancestors carried history forward, and humans are wired for it. A good story hits, sparks connection, and ingrains a message that stays. @HypeBootcamp
