Bay Area friends and colleagues. Join me tomorrow for the reading of PILGRIMAGE, a play co-written by our very own @HumairaGhilzai. PILGRIMAGE dares to spotlight Muslim women on stage, presenting them as multi-dimensional, imperfect, and deeply loving individuals.
There is a reading tomorrow, Monday November 6 at 7:30pm at Stanford's Nitery theater

The play is about four Afghan-American women and a Black Muslim convert who go on an Umrah. The story inspiration and some events are taken from Humaira's Umrah in 2015.
Five Muslim American women set out on a pilgrimage to Mecca. Noor, an Afghan American immigrant, carries a hidden burden. Her tech CEO daughter, Maryam, grapples with legal troubles. Noor's nieces, the estranged sisters Sosan and Nadia, strive to heal their fractured bond. Meanwhile, Fatima, a Black Muslim convert, embarks on a quest to find her birth mother. Will this spiritual odyssey unite them, or will secrets, rivalries, and old wounds tear them apart?

I worked on episode 7 of #AppleTVPlus's Little America as an Afghanistan Cultural Advisor. I was involved in script development, casting, music rights acquisition, set and costume design. We cast proudly Afghan actors for all the adult Afghan roles.
