The most MIS-USED stat ever! The reef is more UNHEALTHY than ever! 😡
After bleaching, certain species of corals grow back faster (usually Acropora spp.), whilst other species completely die off after repeated events.
The same way forest ecosystems become more homogeneous after constant fire - some species of grasses and trees can tolerate it and smother the forest. With coral reefs, SO many coral species are disappearing and heaps of fish/invertebrates that rely on those species are also disappearing.
It is SO frustrating how climate-change deniers think these ecosystems are so basic, AHHHHH! 😤

a lot of insect genera have some handful of species or regional subspecies that are basically mythic pokemon that were observed once or twice with a malaise trap a hundred years ago and then observed once a generation by someone who survives trekking to where theyre found

big fan of when autistic people have a special interest that they engage with by identifying things and they'll find one of those things and take a picture of it and post the picture with the name of the thing

When I was a kid I was called a "black man" simply for having slightly more melanin in skin.
Fucking insane colorism culture.

These islands literally hold the most endemic fauna of anywhere else on earth. The most biologically important islands being turned into cheap cash for palm oil greedlords. Unfathomable… 😡😭

Once tropical rainforest burns, it won’t recover in our lifetime. 🌳❌
Endangered species will disappear.
The fires in Indonesia are a failure from the entire world. Humanity that priorities profit over the environment is a global issue that has sparked these fires, literally. 🔥
Borneo is the most ecologically important rainforest on earth due to its extreme biodiversity and fragility. We have to fight to protect every last inch of it! 🦧

Maaf ganggu scrolling-nya.
Cuma mau info. Seluruh penjuru pulau Kalimantan bagian Indonesia kebakaran. Setiap titik api sangat besar dan luas. Bisa 2x lipat Jakpus dan 1.3x kota Denpasar.
Sungai-sungai kering, harga bahan pokok naik, air bersih susah, jarak pandang tertutup kabut asap, banyak anak sesak nafas. Ah, tapi MBG dan Kopdes aman kok, tenang aja. Silahkan lanjut scrolling lagi.
