Honoured to be in Lebanese Parliament today to see election of President Joseph Aoun. A signal of hope for 🇱🇧 after so many challenges.
Key next step under his leadership is swift formation of government committed to take forward much-needed reforms. 🇬🇧 stands ready to support.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Thinking of Beirut today, and of all those still waiting for justice. It's been far too long.

Delighted to see again Tacita Dean's evocative "Foreign Policy" at the Fondation Pinault. It took me right back to the Permanent Under Secretary's office, FCO, c. 2015.

#ANZAC Day always an important opportunity to remember the courageous contributions of 🇦🇺 & 🇳🇿 in multiple theatres around the world.
I always add a quiet thought for my great grandfather who landed on Gallipoli OTD 1915 w/ 1st Battalion, #LancashireFusiliers. KIA 2 weeks later.
On #AnzacDay we remember the immense contribution made by thousands of men and women from across every part of Australia and New Zealand in operations and conflicts across the globe.
Their service and sacrifice will not be forgotten.

The first International Day to Combat Islamophobia is a call for action to stamp out the poison of anti-Muslim hatred.
Discrimination diminishes us all. We must stand up against it.
Today & every day, we must counter the forces of division by reaffirming our common humanity.
Those who ban women from national life, like the #Taliban, are saying none of these achievements should have happened. The world would have been a poorer, more ignorant & more violent place. That's exactly what will happen to #Afghanistan if #AfghanWomen are erased from society.
Happy International Women's Day!
We're celebrating women who have changed the world. Here's all of the amazing women who have received the #NobelPrize and their remarkable achievements at the time of the award.
Who are the women who inspire you the most?

#IWD2023 is an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of trailblazing women in #Afghanistan over the decades. We continue to work towards an Afghanistan that will provide opportunities for young women of today in all sectors. The key: education. #LetAfghanGirlsLearn
Gains are made for #women worldwide, but there's more to do. Collectively, we can all challenge #genderstereotypes, call out #discrimination & draw attention to #bias. Let's #EmbraceEquity to create places & spaces where women thrive 👉🏽 bit.ly/IWD2023 #IWD2023
