Football players about to start your season:
Strength diminishes within 14 days
Speed tends to diminish around 3-5 days
What’s this mean? Lift 85% or more at least once a week 1-5 reps
But never take speed out

Different sports. Same anotomy. Different demands. Same human body. Messi has a hamstring muscle just like LeBron James and Travis Kelce. The sport doesn’t change anatomy or physiology - it changes the demands placed on the athlete.
Watching elite soccer players train during the FIFA tournament reminds me of the work we do with college and professional football, baseball, and basketball athletes.
The games are different - especially when it comes to the energy systems and cardiovascular demands - but many of the fundamental movement patterns are remarkably similar.
Great training doesn’t need to be complicated. It needs to transfer.
Push. Pull. Squat. Hinge. Throw. Jump. Sprint.
Safe. Simple. Efficient. Effective.
Regardless of sport, when we build the right qualities in training, they show up on game day.

HS sport coaches. In the weight-room. They aren’t football or basketball or baseball players. They are just adolescent athletes. General physical development is the focus, not sport development.

Coaches!! 4 year varsity starter at QB. Also started at inside linebacker as a sophomore in the SIAC. Can play QB/TE/LB. 1000 pt scorer in basketball as well. 1000 lb club lifter for us this spring. Working on his weight everyday and is up 207 lbs. 79” wing span and has ran 4.7 consistently all summer long in the 40. Hes a football player and a better competitor.

With this triple to lead off the game, Jaron Clutter (@jclutter24) became the Princeton Community High School Baseball All-Time Career Hits Leader, surpassing the previous record, which was held by Princeton baseball legend Jeff Goldbach. #pdcprepsports @PTownTigerBB @PCHSTigers

Not sure I'll ever coach a more versatile player. There are some LM D1 assistants who lack imagination or just plain know how.
Replying to @Eholmes04
@Eholmes04 Congratulations! I’m not sure if this message ever stuck. But the fact your last day of school you chose to make some kids day at the park speaks volumes! Thank you for being the person you are! Everything is in front of you! Opportunity awaits! Go Be Great! #OTP
