It is shocking that this takes some amount of bravery for the Washington Post to say in 2026, but they deserve credit for saying it nonetheless.

Is this the dangerous and nefarious shadow docket I’ve heard so much about?
Imagine what media & politicians would be saying if SCOTUS had declined the stay and allowed the 5th Circuit's Mifepristone ruling to go into effect. Pandemonium, "the court is partisan, we need to court pack ..." How many will weigh on what it means that they did stay the case?
I will anxiously await those who typically condemn the "shadow docket" as an institution to condemn the stay in the mifepristone case. (I'm not anxiously awaiting anything because condemning interim rulings perse is unserious and usually just means you don't like the result ...)
I anxiously await the complaints from the people who think that the "shadow docket" is terrible, awful, no good ... Supreme Court ensures telehealth access to abortion pill mifepristone | AP News

Hey Sam! Haven’t heard from you since we were covering the 2012 presidential campaign. You’re a journalism professor now at @USCAnnenberg? Sad to see you this dismissive of objective reporting, but I guess you haven’t done it in a decade or so, while teaching the next generation and writing things like
“I’m a clumsy middle-aged man who surfs by the Santa Monica Pier several times a week. I often see Conan O’Brien at my coffee shop. Arnold Schwarzenegger gave me a salute last year, and the guy who directed Anchorman let me take apart the box of Sex Panther Cologne to see how it worked.”
Good luck to your students!
Many of the discussions of Callais seem to miss or ignore Justice Alito saying that a plaintiff can win by identifying a map that fully achieves all the State’s legitimate goals while producing greater racial balance.

Size, consciousness, self-awareness, and capacity for pain are completely arbitrary markers of personhood and would justify killing large numbers of people in addition to unborn children.

Endorsing court packing after Trump leaves office is not opposing Trump
Anecdotally, I’m still not sure that liberals I know hate Trump more than they hated Bush. But they are more catastrophic about it. Casually saying that there might be some kind of cataclysm as of it’s obvious what they have in mind and why. (And I have no clue honestly …)
Justice Gorsuch’s line “so what if that kind of reflexive deference to currently prevailing professional views may not always end well” citing to Buck V Bell, is quite the retort to the defense. It’s scathing but on point and earned.

I’m DYING at Matthew calling my FIL a “bit of a fool” while also having this level of understanding of textualism. Not to mention thinking he needed to tag me in a response to my very own tweet.💀💀💀

Bit of a fool actually.
So let's say as "textualists" we can only permit what the Constitution expressly allows. Therefore, we must abolish the Air Force.
Brilliant.
Or is it your claim the Wright Brothers were 16th century inventors?

Just so we’re clear, this quote comes from a story which seems to be about “antifacists” throwing IEDs at other protestors.
“‘Antifascist protesting is probably more important than my gym routine,’said Morgan Magid, 29.” nytimes.com/2026/03/07/nyreg…

As the actual “far right” guy I’d appreciate it if you’d at least acknowledge that weirdos like this are on stolen ground if you’re going to pretend this is now “right.”

And yet everyone on Twitter reads the opinions in seconds.
And just like that, critics of the Supreme Court announced that the President's power to impose tariffs was not an important question. It had never been important. If you thought it was an important case, you were mistaken. This has no bearing on the Court's objectivity. #scotus
