Hot take, and some of you will disagree with me in the comments 🔥 Millennials graduated into 2008, got called entitled for a decade, and built a career inside the one era of work that never stopped changing under them. #millennials #futureofwork #leadership #innovation

When one country closes doors, another opens them. The global race for scientific talent is shifting and China is making it clear that it wants the world’s brightest researchers to come there. The question is no longer just where innovation happens, but which countries are willing to invest in the people who create it. #China #USA #Science #Scientists #STEM #Innovation #Research #Technology #GlobalTalent

Companies don't collapse because AI showed up… They collapse because the people steering them stopped listening long before that, to the floor, to the customers, to the warning signs that were already there. AI just makes the collapse faster and easier to blame on something else. I unpack this properly on my substack One Inch Ahead 📩 Want to read more about Circuit City? I watched this exact pattern kill Circuit City in 2007. Now I'm watching it happen again, just with a different name on the layoff announcement 📉 Circuit City fired 3,400 of its most experienced staff in one morning. Wall Street cheered and the stock went up that same day. Nineteen months later, the company was bankrupt. #futurereadiness #corporatestrategy #leadership #layoffs

I've advised teams at The LEGO Group , Booking.com, and Bosch, and I still see the same 5 gaps in almost every early career professional I work with 🧠 1️⃣ Assuming the skills that got you hired are the skills that keep you valuable. They rarely stay the same for long. 2️⃣ Waiting for a performance review to tell you where you stand, instead of tracking the shift yourself as it happens. 3️⃣ Treating your current role as the finish line instead of one data point in a longer trajectory. 4️⃣ Staying inside your function instead of understanding how the business actually makes money. 5️⃣ Not asking whether the industry itself is moving up the value chain, and whether your skills are moving with it. None of these get taught in a classroom, and most people learn them years later than they should. #careeradvice #corporatecareer #leadership #workadvice #managementtips

Too experienced to be called junior but too far from retirement to coast 🧭 Experience doesn't lose value everywhere at once. It loses value fastest where judgment gets replaced by pattern matching, and it holds value longest where judgment is the entire job. Seven places where that's still true: 1. Financial advisory, where clients are trusting someone with their money and want to see it's been done before, not just modeled well 2. Healthcare consulting, where the cost of a wrong call is measured in outcomes, not just efficiency 3. Executive coaching, where you're coaching people through situations you'd need to have actually lived through 4. Luxury real estate, where high-net-worth clients are buying a relationship as much as a transaction 5. Non-profit leadership, where donors are trusting a track record more than a pitch deck 6. Corporate training and education, where real-world scars teach faster than theory does 7. Government contracting, where understanding how complex systems actually break matters more than knowing how they're supposed to work All of these are roles where being wrong is expensive… That's not a coincidence, and it's not going away as fast as some industries want you to believe. #ageism #over50jobs #matureworkers #careeradvice #futurereadiness #corporatecareer

This is one of the harder leadership problems right now, and most companies haven't given managers any real guidance on how to handle it… A few things worth getting right before the rollout. 1. Explain the why before you explain the tool, since people don't fear AI as much as they fear not understanding the decision behind it. 2. Use it on your own work first, because credibility comes from actually doing it, not just announcing it to the team. 3. Frame the whole thing around what it frees people up to do, rather than what it's replacing. Trust doesn't usually break because AI got introduced, it breaks because people felt the change happen to them instead of with them. #aiatwork #leadership #futurereadiness #managementtips #corporatelife
