TALK ABOUT A GUTSY RUN 😫
After making a bold move around halfway in the 2026 Chicago Marathon, Vinny Mauri 🇺🇸 wrestles a bear of a final 10km, stopping multiple times to stretch but still hanging on for a tenth place, third American finish in 2:06:45.
In only his second career marathon, Mauri has shown he belongs in the mix with the best distance runners in the world.
Glass City Marathon. One of the best races in midwest, I’ve been saying it!
London may have been taking up all of the headlines but back on American soil things got a little rowdy in Ohio 👀🤠
The Notre Dame alum, Vinny Mauri, debuted the marathon distance with not just an Olympic Trials Qualifier, but the fastest American debut ever with a 2:05:54 at Glass City in Toledo, Ohio earlier this morning🫣😦

THE GREATEST RUN IN HISTORY 🤯
Sabastian Sawe takes OVER A MINUTE off the world record in the marathon and becomes the first-ever sub-2 hour runner in an official race with a 1:59:30 victory over Yomif Kejelcha, who also breaks two hours in his debut marathon, running 1:59:41 for second.
Sawe is now 4 for 4 with marathon victories. After the leaders hit halfway in 60:29, Sawe ran 59:01 FOR HIS SECOND HALF as he and Kejelcha worked together to drop third placer Jacob Kiplimo, who himself ran 2:00:28 to finish under Kelvin Kiptum’s old WR mark.

Point No. 2,097 puts him past Dennis Hopson (1983-87) for the record 👏

Training in the oppressive summer heat is hard physically.
But winter running is psychologically harder.
I never have problems getting out the door when it’s warm. Not the case when it’s cold. I don’t like it.
