Ngl, I would love this
Alright so a lot of people complaining about the (actually okay) mad science. Thats why for Crystal Lake Season 2 they need to correct by going in the OPPOSITE direction. And focus on a young version of the GOAT demon hunter Creighton Duke.

Some people really think it's interesting to say "the book is like this, but the adaptation is like this."
Calling Carrie White a "good and kind girl who just wanted to go to school and computers" completely infantilizes one of the most terrifying, autonomous forces in horror literature. In Stephen King's novel, Carrie isn't some soft, misunderstood anti-hero who turned "villain" because of mean kids, she became an absolute instrument of apocalyptic wrath who deliberately burned Chamberlain to the ground. The White Commission records don't document a tragic misunderstanding; they document a calculated, unyielding massacre executed by a telekinetic force who owned every second of her revenge. Stop trying to sanitize a nightmare into a wholesome safety-campaign PSA. Read the book. #carrie

Seeing these crystal lake takes like "can't you believe Jason was bullied as a kid? And that his mom loved him? Why do they gotta give him a sympathetic backstory?" Were these motherfuckers watching the same movies?

Crystal lake. Idk, it felt like it was at war with itself. On the one hand it seems to want to be prestige, slow burn A24 horror. On the other, the source material really doesn't lead itself to that style. There's some good stuff in there, id watch a season 2, but it didn't really scratch the itch.

Banger
Why do they call it "morning wood" instead of "the hard problem of consciousness?"

Being a Barista, especially long term, is just as hard as getting a phd.
really is wild that AI is poised to reach PhD level first, then Starbucks barista level after that.

Anyone who's read wittgenstein knows that this is basically incoherent.

We’re making interesting progress here. Digital Optimus can play about halfway through the Diablo campaign so far just by looking at the screen like a human. Skill at Counter-Strike and other fast games is good too. League is also in training. Goal is to generalize across all games.

People who are all "the models only do what theyre told to" must be really confused by this.
this is purely insane btw

Not on my bingo card
A killer is being resentenced after an AI video of his dead victim forgiving him was played in court The victim’s sister wrote the script, and said they “probably could have been friends”

My tin foil hat theory (which seems plausible) is that they made significant advances in cracking cryptography.

Introducing Griffin, the first model to pass the video Turing test. 48% of people who talked to it live thought it was a real human. Previous systems have had a pass rate <3%. It is #1 on NVIDIA's benchmark for full-duplex AI video. It’s the first Human Interaction Model (HIM).
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The 48% figure and "video Turing test" claim are from Tavus's own study of 54 one-minute calls, not independently verified or using a standard protocol. And nobody ever saw her again
OpenAI CFO Sarah Friar accidentally calls Dots “Muse” before correcting herself and says Dots will use memory that knows users’ conversations and how they show up in the world “We just announced Sol 6.1, best intelligence, lowest price, a fifth of the price of Astra." "In fact, it also leans into areas like memory, right? Chat really has started to know you. It knows the types of conversations you’ve had, how you like to show up in the world." "Muse is going to benefit. Sorry, not Muse. Dots is going to benefit from that as well. And then I think it will benefit just from the scale of our distribution channel, right?”
