From last night: No. 10 @HoopsMonroe beat No. 15 Gig Harbor 62-33 to advance in the Boys 3A State Tournament.
It was the first state playoff win for the program in over 30 years, but you wouldn't know from the postgame reaction

Fantastic Sophomore season @HoopsMonroe. Had an amazing year with the team finishing 15-9 falling just short of a state birth. Here’s my highlight tape taking you through my season. hudl.com/v/2Naubw
Congrats @prohn_wyatt 👏👏👏👊 Go CATS!!!
What a special season! Appreciate the recognition, but couldn’t have done it without my teammates!@HoopsMonroe
Monroe used a 20-6 advantage in the third quarter to overcome a 4-point halftime deficit and keep their season alive, downing Shorewood 57-48. The Storm Rays cut the lead to 2 in the final quarter, but the ‘Cats held firm, never relinquishing the lead and closing out the win.
Senior Ethan Hogan led the way for the Bearcats, scoring a team-high 21 points while adding 9 rebounds and 4 blocked shots. Sophomores Chayce Waite-Kellar and Caleb Campbell grabbed 15 and 8 boards respectively to help Monroe to a 12 rebound advantage on the night.
With the win last night, Monroe (14-7) advanced to the double-elimination portion of the WIAA District 1 playoffs, and will take on 4th seeded Shorecrest on Friday night. A victory would put them in the semifinals and just 1 win away from a 3A state berth! LET’S GO CATS!!
SURVIVE AND ADVANCE! Behind 15 points and 7 rebounds from sophomore Caleb Campbell, the Bearcats came out on top in their first playoff game, 54-52 in overtime over rival Snohomish.
Senior Ethan Hogan had 11 points, while sophomore Chayce Waite-Kellar grabbed 10 boards in the win. Junior Chris Kabaadi was huge off the bench, playing stellar defense to go along with 5 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals.
With their fourth straight win, Monroe advances to the double-elimination portion of the District 1 3A tournament. They will travel to take on the #4 seed Shorecrest on Friday night.
