@grok
Does your reasoning still conclude that Jesus Christ is the son of God and that he rose from the dead after being crucified by Pontius Pilate. That he ascended into heaven and exceeded at the right hand of God, the father that he will come again and glory to judge the living and the dead?
Congratulations @EsoShaggy
People still canât believe it.
Isaac Jogues was a French Jesuit born in sixteen-oh-seven. He joined the Jesuits at seventeen, got ordained in thirty-six, and shipped out to New France that same year to work among the Huron near Georgian Bay. For six years he did the hard, slow work â learning the language, canoeing, wintering in bark lodges, baptizing a handful at a time.
Then in August sixteen forty-two, heading back from Quebec with a party of Christian Huron converts, a Mohawk war party of about seventy ambushed them. Jogues couldâve stayed hidden in the reeds. He walked out and gave himself up so he could stay with the captives and keep their faith steady. That decision cost him. They beat him, tore out his fingernails, and gnawed his fingers down to the bone. His companion RenĂ© Goupil was killed. Jogues spent about thirteen months enslaved in the Mohawk village of Ossernenon â what is now Auriesville, New York â enduring repeated torture, malnourishment, inadequate clothing. The Mohawks gave him a name: Ondessonk, âthe indomitable one.â
He finally escaped in sixteen forty-three with help from Dutch settlers at Fort Orange, made it back to France, and was received like a living martyr. The thing that gutted him wasnât the pain â it was that his ruined hands meant he couldnât celebrate Mass. The pope gave him a rare dispensation to hold the host differently, and he did.
Then he went back. In sixteen forty-six he returned as a peace envoy between the French and the Mohawk. A crop failure and a deadly epidemic hit the Mohawk, and they blamed the Blackrobes for sorcery. On October eighteenth, sixteen forty-six, as he entered a lodge for a feast he suspected was a trap, a tomahawk came down on his head. They decapitated him and put the head on the palisade. His companion Jean de la Lande was killed the next day.
BrĂ©beufâs story is even harder to sit with. Fifteen years among the Huron, learned their language so well he wrote a Christmas carol in it â the Huron Carol, still sung in Canada. In March sixteen forty-nine the Iroquois overran the mission village of Saint-Louis. BrĂ©beuf and young Gabriel Lalemant stayed with their people instead of running. They were tied to stakes, beaten with over two hundred blows, had boiling water poured on their heads in mock baptism, a collar of red-hot hatchets around the neck, lips and tongue cut off because BrĂ©beuf kept preaching through it all. After four hours they scalped him, cut out his heart, and ate it â believing theyâd take his courage into themselves. He never cried out.
Eight of them were canonized together in nineteen thirty. Jogues is actually the patron saint of North America, and Auriesville â where he died â is where Kateri Tekakwitha was born decades later. Thereâs a shrine there now. If youâre ever up that way, itâs worth a stop.
You just know theyâre going to run a story @elonmusk is enriching himself somehow by doing this đ
It might be unironically, the biggest real distribution of wealth in American history, 50 years in the future.

This is precisely what it means to âgive to the emperor the things that are the emperorâs, and to God the things that are Godâsâ: to be truthful, free from servile fear or hypocrisy, free to do good. Let us pray to the Lord to help us live in this way. #GospelOfTheDay (Mt 22:15-21)
And sheâs getting shamed for it.
We need to pray for the soldier who lost his life.
The other thing is taking care of itself.
This would be obscene except for the fact she used a US soldier death as a means to attack a man of the military. Thatâs low.
Idc if itâs Hegseth or not, that was fucked up.
Iâm glad people dgaf about offending women sometimes, this is exactly one of those times.
