Today, we commemorate Homeless Persons Memorial Day, honoring the 189 homeless lives lost in 2023 in #OurCounty. They had dreams and aspirations that were tragically intersected by the harsh reality of living without a place to call home. Thank you to @HomelessMiami for serving.

"Maternal♥️✨Devotion"- I met Daisy and her daughter at the Allapattah Community Center, a place frequented by locals, mostly elderly, seeking companionship and warm meals. It seems Daisy had been aimlessly roaming the streets, homeless, trying to figure out where their next meal would come from. She appeared so terrified. She and her daughter had been sleeping in a cardboard box behind the bus station, having been evicted four months prior. While distributing meals, I noticed her eyes welling up with tears. I sat in front of her and asked what was wrong, to which she replied, we are hungry and without a home. I felt her sadness, and I assured her, you've come to the right place. How can I help? She responded, I'm not sure! But I need to ensure my daughter, who has special needs, doesn't have to sleep on the cold ground anymore. I'm ready to do whatever it takes. I comforted her, saying, God is kind. He guided you here. Thanks to the efforts of the @HomelessMiami Homeless Trust, Daisy and her daughter now have a roof over their heads. The joy reflected in their expressions is genuinely priceless! “Every individual deserves the necessities of life: a place to live, a nourishing meal, and a comfortable place to rest. These are the fundamental rights that I wholeheartedly advocate for within our community." - @FLSenate #LoveWhereYouLove ☀️🐓♥️ Florida Senate District 36 #Allapattah
