🎉 Today we honour the workers who keep producing through floods, storms and record heat. They did the least to cause the climate crisis, yet they pay the highest price. When your home is your workplace, a flood takes your stock, your tools and your income at once.
After these talks, the ministry announced subsidies of 30–60% on clean energy and energy-saving equipment in December 2024.
These solutions work, but workers should not have to pay for them alone.
Governments must include home-based workers in social protection and climate policy, and ratify ILO Convention 177. ➡️ Join HNI in making #DecentWork a reality for #HomeBasedWorkers: buff.ly/YkCANU3

The @ILO estimates there are around 260 million home-based workers worldwide, and for many of them poverty comes from piece rates that don’t cover their costs, payments that arrive late or never, and no social protection when orders dry up or illness strikes.
On International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, we call on governments to listen to the workers who live this reality every day. Ending poverty means fair pay, social protection and the right to organise for every worker, wherever they work.
🌟 Governments can take a concrete step by ratifying ILO Convention 177 on home work. Join HNI in making #DecentWork a reality for home-based workers:

🚜 In rural communities around the world, women stitch, weave, roll, pack and process goods from their homes, often while farming, caring for children and running households at the same time. Many of them are home-based workers.
On International Day of Rural Women, HomeNet International stands with the rural women in our networks who are organising for recognition, fair pay and a voice in the decisions that shape their lives. Recognising their work starts with recognising them as workers.
