There was a time when Israeli politicians spoke openly and proudly about their yearning for peace. It was not a sign of weakness but a source of pride. The word even appeared in @netanyahu’s campaign slogans and was regularly a central theme in his UN speeches.
In 2023, just weeks before October 7, Netanyahu used the word “peace” 42 times at the UN. A year later, that number dropped to 21, then to 13 in 2025. Last month, he mentioned it just once.
And he is hardly alone. @gadi_eisenkot, @naftalibennett and even @YairGolan1 rarely speak about peace anymore.
How did Israel, a country founded on the hope that one day its children would no longer have to fight, reach a point where even speaking about peace seems to have become taboo?
What happened to our belief that peace was something worth striving for, even when it seems impossible? When did we stop daring to dream of a different future?

I find this exchange between El-Sayed and a young man who asked him to disavow the Muslim Brotherhood disturbing:
cnn.com/2026/10/18/politics/… El-Sayed's counter-questions are insulting; and the question is legitimate - not because he is Muslim, but of his anti-Israel stances

The ongoing onslaughts against Palestinians in the WB are shameful. No US ambassador to Israel has been more devoted to US ties with Israel than Mike Huckabee. He rightly calls them acts of terrorism. Why can Netanyahu’s government deal with other acts of terror but not these?
What the hell happened to my Dodgers?

Their worst postseason performance since Baltimore swept them in 1966 World Series (when I was 9)...which ended Koufax' career
How do they strand 3 runners in 3 consecutive innings at 3rd base??? Terrible performance with RISPs in all 4 games.

Trump is probably going to lose the midterms. After that, the period of self-reflection caused by Trump's victory in 2024 will be over. So before that happens, I wanted to remind people of why the left's mistakes enabled Trump's big victory two years ago.

Kind of striking how persistent the decline in Trump's approval rating has been. There's been mean reversion around news events and economic data, but to a declining rather than steady baseline as in the 1st term.

My father, Elie Wiesel, received the Nobel Peace Prize for ensuring the Holocaust wouldn’t be forgotten. By honoring Navi Pillay, who accused Israel of genocide, the committee has betrayed his legacy. thefp.com/p/elie-wiesel-deat…
In awarding the Peace Prize to Navi Pillay, the Nobel Committee rewards a record of legitimizing of demonizing Jews, Israelis and championing antizionism.
As chair of the UN Commission of Inquiry, Pillay drove the unsubstantiated "genocide" charge against Israel that has become a rallying cry for antisemites worldwide. She has previously accused Jews and Israel of having "ganged up" to distort the history of the Durban conference, defended a fellow COI commissioner's "Jewish lobby" remarks, and championed the Durban process that mainstreamed anti-Zionist antisemitism inside the UN.
Learning of this award in Nuremberg and using the moment to double down on the genocide claim is a betrayal of "never again." The Nobel Committee has handed its most prestigious honor to someone who has repeatedly given cover to antisemitic narratives. That is not peace. That is normalization of hate. cnn.com/2026/10/09/world/liv…

When a government refuses to investigate the greatest disaster in the nation’s history, no one should be surprised when mistakes are repeated and failures happen again.
That is exactly what the flydubai incident has exposed. Once again, there appears to have been a systemic failure across security agencies, government ministries and senior officials. The passenger list was reportedly sent to the Transportation Ministry before the flight, creating an opportunity to identify the co-pilot’s problematic background. There were also repeated warnings from the National Security Council and others that the state was not taking the threat seriously enough.
And once again - just as on October 7 - ordinary citizens stepped up and became the heroes.
That is the sad reality in Israel today: the country succeeds despite its government and despite its politicians, not because of them. The question now is whether anything will actually change. Will anyone be held accountable - in the Mossad, the Shin Bet or the Transportation Ministry? Will anyone investigate what went wrong and fix it?
Or will we simply wait for the next failure?

Israeli Opposition Leader Yair Lapid on Gaza:
I had a painful meeting with a group of very young people, and I heard all the lines about how "everyone has to be killed" and "there are no innocents." I asked them, "Babies?" They said, "Babies too, because eventually they’ll grow up and become terrorists."
I said, "Even a two-week-old baby?" And I thought: Hamas won. Those are Hamas’s standards. That is what Hamas wanted — for us to become like them.
I support the use of force. But I am saying that we must not become like them.

96% of Jews in Poland were murdered by the Nazis. That is genocide.
3% of Gaza’s population, mostly male combatants, died in the war they started. That is not genocide.
