A hotel project threatens an 8th-century Ayyubid archaeological tomb in Damascus! 🚨
Dr. Abdalrazzaq Moaz, a Syrian historian and archaeologist, warned against a decision to lift and relocate the Ayyubid "Al-Musajaf Tomb" (located between Al-Mazza and Kafar Souseh) and convert it into a prayer hall after it fell within the scope of a hotel investment project without consulting the General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums, and despite its legal protection and Antiquities Law No. 222 of 1963.
We demand the Damascus Governorate @DamascusGov1 headed by the Governor of Damascus @MAHEREDLEBI to provide an official clarification, halt the relocation and dismantling procedures, and review the project plans to ensure the tomb remains in its original location without sacrificing historical sites for the sake of real estate projects.
The city of Damascus must expand outward, toward the countryside and non-agricultural lands, rather than sacrificing its archaeological sites to build hotels.
This is a protected public property, and the Damascus Governorate has no right to relocate or vandalize it for the benefit of private commercial projects 😅

I recently returned from two months of meetings across Syria, my ninth trip since the regime fell.
As usual, I visited many of the same areas I do each trip, but also many new communities across western and northern Syria. My work focused on civil peace, transitional justice, and historical documentation.

Can you imagine this guy has been detained for launching a platform for headscarf wearing students to study. And he’s not alone. Over 200 people have been arrested over a span of a few days for social media posts and protesting in front of schools.
Baku-based activist and artist İlkin Huseynov has been unreachable since yesterday, shortly after he set up the ‘Let Leyli Go to School’ project, which sought to organise tutoring for those boycotting school amid hijab ban protests.

Today's arrest of the Butcher of Baniyas is a major milestone for Transitional Justice.
Ali Kayali/ Mihrac Ural, former commander of the "Syrian Resistance", was one of the main perpetrators of the worst sectarian massacre ever committed by Regime.
He was also the last major pro-Assad figure publicly associated with a massacre of this scale to remain at large.
Surprisingly, he remained in the country after #SDF defeat, despite earlier reports that he fled to Tabqa following Assad's fall.
The General Intelligence tracked him down after he attempted to flee.
His deputy commander was arrested just 10 days earlier, with the possibility that investigators may have obtained valuable information.
On 2–3 May 2013, some 458 residents of (Sunni-majority) Bayda village & Ras Nabaa district were slaughtered by Regime & Kayali militiamen, incl. nearly 170 women & children.
Residents were slaughtered by all means, incl. with knives, in an act of absolute, sectarian-driven savagery.
No further details about his arrest are released so far, but celebrations have already begun in Baniyas.

Now lying in a hospital bed, Maryam cries amid the unbearable loss of her family. She survived the bombing, but was left to face a grief no child should ever have to endure.
