The movement of one pitch type is incomplete without knowing how it interacts with the rest of an arsenal.
@dhpitching walks through exactly how to make the most of your pitch design sessions and to not chase numbers without context.

The reason so few people understand success is that CONSISTENCY never looks impressive at the moment, only
AT THE END. Trust your process as you are building.
NEVER STOP BUILDING.

Ain't nothing wrong with where these players are at right now with their swings.
After all, two are already committed to Minnesota.
Still, these sophomores and juniors are on the edge of some elite swing metric profiles and could see a jump heading into next season.

The Brewers are the ultimate OUTLIER
When I was diving in on the game and pitching matchup yesterday I found this. This is a statistic of the average degree of the barrel of the bat at contact point for each team.
Everything to the left is pull side contact point. Everything to the right is opposite field contact point.
29 of the 30 teams are to the pull side.
Thereโs just one to the opposite field. The Milwaukee Brewers.
This is wild to me. And speaks volumes to their team approach. It means the ball is traveling deeper which has a ripple effect on everything else youโre trying to do as a hitter.
It allows you to recognize off speed for a split second longer. Spit on pitches down and away. Keep pitches fair that youโre normally pulling foul. Foul line to foul line approach.
The team with the best record in all of baseball is the ONLY team doing something. And theyโre not even particularly close to any other teams. Thatโs pretty eye opening.
Also shoutout Twins. Turn and burn, baby.

The count decides the at bat in D1 softball.
0 and 0: .749 OPS
โจWin the first pitch, 1 and 0: .844โจLose it, 0 and 1: .631
The biggest pitch is 2 and 1. Ball makes it 3 and 1 (1.082). Strike makes it 2 and 2 (.631).
Swing at strike one. Don't chase strike three.

Trout loads inside, swings inside
Right line: Hands load in tight
Left line: Butt back keeps space to work
How to apply this:
1. Set a tee behind you. Hinge back into it.
2. Load your hands inside the box line.
3. Get your hands inside your front elbow.
4. Film it. Check your hands against the box line.

Made an error? You get 5 seconds.
5 secondsโฆ
- to acknowledge it.
- to breathe.
- to let it go.
Then reset and get back to work.
You canโt change the last play, but you can control what you do with the next one.
Donโt let one mistake become two.
Reset. Refocus. Respond.
