The Tories seeing which way the Overton Window is going?
Britain will face riots like France unless migration is cut, Kemi Badenoch has warned. 🔗:telegraph.co.uk/politics/202…

I don't doubt there are times when the state creates nannying laws because they don't trust the public but we've also gotten to the stage where members the public don't have a concept of 'unwritten rules' or situational awareness which necessities the state to act like a parent.
I suspect this will be difficult to enforce consistently, but laws also help shape national consciousness by establishing social norms. Consideration for others in shared public spaces should be instinctive, without the need for legislation. But here we are.

The irony is if Reform UK didn't exist most of the 'centrist dad' types wouldn't much like Kemi Badenoch and would complain that she's too divisive. She'd be as reviled as Braverman and Lee Anderson were as Tory MPs. It's only because of Farage she's a useful buffer for now.
Unbelievable levels of delusion on display.

Having edited Wikipedia myself a problem is the sources permitted which leads the articles into a political slant - the Mail is 'unreliable' (fair) but The Guardian (which contains opinion pieces on turds and how Christmas is evil) and HnH are considered 'reliable.'
“Two-tier policing conspiracy theory”. Just incredible. Reform UK - a mainstream centre-right political party - listed as a far-right organisation. Rupert Lowe - a Tory-coded Boomer - described as a far-right politician. Lmao. Remember, the Reddit mods and the Wikipedia editors are the same people.

Can we just admit the whole Gaza thing isn't a simple concern for human rights but is a cult divorced from sanity and the Palestinian flag is the MAGA cap of the left?

I'm very agnostic on capital punishment but I don't think this is quite the 'gotcha' ITV thinks it is. I'm pretty sure if they interviewed some of the Gaza Independents they would probably express quite similar views on violent crime tbh.
🚨NEW: In ITV's undercover investigation, a Reform UK councillor in West London said that he would "quite happily" personally execute grooming gang members in the garden of 10 Downing Street "without f*cking thinking for a second about it"

He's basically Mothin Ali of the Green Party in a nice suit; surface level projects the kumbaya "trans/Muslims/minorities under the rainbow unite, down with the Mail!" but if ITV got him on candid camera (and there's already receipts) he'd be outed as a bigoted and extreme person
I've never got why Mehdi Hasan was pushed as an intellectual thinker when he's just an unpleasant man in general but he's very the definition of "I'm as British as you are so I can gatekeep and dictate terms but also f*ck the West" so that's probably why progressives lap him up.

Just so weird when someone living in the UK called Mehdi Hasan makes this argument. His family comes from India. I’m not sure he's thought the argument through to its unpleasant conclusion.

In any broad movement there will be cranks. That doesn't excuse extremism and yes, there is bias against Reform. I'm sure if ITV secretly filmed some Greens they'd uncover stuff deemed a national security risk, but Reform are walking into obvious traps thrown out by the media too
Sections of the media were always going to have a bias or dislike against Reform UK and try tripping them up, so I am in broad agreement to the question of why the left don't get the same treatment, but on Reform's side they should have anticipated this and had better guardrails.

The infiltration of Reform UK is genuinely one of the most revolting, anti-democratic and dangerous things I have seen in British politics in my lifetime. I have been critical of how Reform UK has operated, but this is just utterly revolting.

'But rioting is part of French culture' 🙄
These degenerates can destroy, but they can only dream of being able to create something so beautiful. The French govt could have chosen to protect this and other historic sites. Instead it chose to indulge the savages. What a mess

I have no time for people like Young Bob, Steve Laws and Charlie Tate - they are genuinely obscene people but they're also consequences not causes for the most part. This whole 'omg how did young men end up like this, what can we do?' is fighting monsters of your own creation.
Yes it's a bit of a mystery after using the education system to shoehorn rubbish about white privilege, Britain being the worst villain in history, masculinity inherently bad and then confining kids indoors with social media being the only outlet that we've ended up with this.

The problem is we've never articulated a strong civic identity of what people are expected to assimilate into and serve politically. We ended up with 'British values' which means anything from simply liking the king to the right to indulge in whatever behaviour you like.
Exactly this. You can't claim "I'm just as British as you" whilst indulging your foreign ethnic special interest politics & get shirty when British people decide to do the same.

I do find myself agreeing with the 'two-tier' argument here. Maybe as a gay man I have a higher shock threshold but while I do get objections to porn it's curious how the British state goes Mary Whitehouse on certain things for the majority but is highly permissive for others.
So we have the power to ban roleplayed incest but not actual incest? Riiiiiight.

He was 14 in 2020. That Young Bob kid is same age. What have we done? Can’t overgeneralise but something is not right with young men/boys.

Why I caution against NPC 'far-right/fascist' talk against all national populist parties as lumping them is like comparing Nirvana's style of rock music to Pink Floyd's. There's the Sweden Democrats and RN who have genuinely moderated vs AfD and Dutch FvD which went the other way
Funny how the AfD - which was just a bunch of academics who didn’t like the Euro - has essentially become a racist party with fascist apologists. And how the FN - a fascist party - had gone further and further in opposite direction. That her father even endorsed a Jew over her.

I can understand being a broad church but there are times when a church becomes so broad it contains people who believe in nothing. The Tories need to decide what side they want to fall down on or like over Brexit they'll tear themselves to shreds.
15% of Tory MPs failed to vote their own motion to leave the ECHR. Even if we factor in the odd one for pairing, it’s still concerning. If this is an example they show in opposition, can we trust them again in government?
