#BREAKING: Potential Mass Shooting Plot Thwarted in Aurora, Illinois. Authorities say a 19-year-old allegedly plotted a mass shooting targeting a Hindu place of worship. Police reportedly recovered a rifle, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, body armor and a manifesto expressing white supremacist extremism and hostility toward people of Indian descent. This comes during Navaratri when thousands of Hindus gather for Garba and also just two weeks after a Hindu temple in Ohio was attacked. We commend law enforcement for swift action. We also urge the community to stay vigilant and Report any potential threat. Every community deserves to worship without fear. chicago.suntimes.com/crime/2…

The Hindu Canadian Foundation welcomes the recent warm and productive conversation between Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney. We are encouraged by the commitment of both leaders to strengthen the India-Canada strategic partnership in areas including trade, energy, technology, security, and people-to-people ties. Hindu Canadians maintain deep historical, cultural, familial, and spiritual connections to India, our ancestral homeland. Over the past several years, members of Hindu community and our places of worship have faced targeted attacks and intimidation by forces that have often invoked the name of India to justify violence against Hindu Canadians. We have consistently called for stronger protections and accountability so that all Canadians can practise their faith freely and safely. We believe a renewed and constructive relationship between Canada and India will contribute to greater prosperity for Canada. India is one of the world’s largest democracies and one of its fastest-growing major economies. Expanded trade, business partnerships, and investment opportunities will benefit Canadian workers, businesses, and communities. Hindu Canadians stand solidly with Prime Minister Mark Carney. We appreciate his leadership and his Canada First approach, which prioritizes the safety, security, and economic well-being of all Canadians, including our community. We look forward to concrete progress that strengthens bilateral cooperation while ensuring the dignity and security of Hindu Canadians. @MarkJCarney @narendramodi @AnitaAnandMP @DrSJaishankar

Mississauga’s 2021 Census: 50% Christian, 17% Muslim, 9% Hindu, 3.4% Sikh & 18% with no religious affiliation. These numbers have surely shifted over the past five years, though updated religious census figures aren’t yet available. Politicians must serve ALL communities equally, not treat people as vote banks. And as voters, we must look beyond religious appeasement & ask: Who has the best policies, puts your city first, puts Canada first & works for the common good. Vote for good governance, not religious politics please.
Mayor Carolyn Parrish of Mississauga telling the Muslim community that she banned foreign flag raising to prevent the Israeli flag from being raised. This is disgusting pandering but not surprising for Parrish who is unfit for office for many reasons. This is just one of them.

Hindu Canadians in Hamilton came together from diverse linguistic and cultural communities including Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu and Marathi communities for a meaningful civic discussion on the issues shaping Hamilton’s future. The conversation covered a wide range of city priorities, including property taxes, homelessness, crime, infrastructure and community safety. @voterobcooper engaged with the participants and responded to questions across these areas. We also raised concerns that have particular significance for Hindu Canadians, including the protection of basic rights, safe and unobstructed access to places of worship, and the rise of anti-Hindu hate. These are issues that deserve serious discussion, along with the question of what municipalities can do to ensure every community feels safe, respected and protected. HCF strongly supports civic engagement across all levels of local democracy with mayoral candidates, councillors, regional councillors and school board trustees. Stronger and safer communities are built when residents engage, ask difficult questions and bring real concerns into the public conversation. HCF calls upon Hindu Canadians across Ontario to take part in the democratic process: learn about the issues, engage with candidates, cast your vote and help build stronger communities and a stronger Canada. The Hindu Canadian Foundation remains committed to advancing civic education and engagement across the country and is ready to work with individuals and organizations that want to strengthen community participation. Our special thanks to Rajen, Manthan and Kishan for bringing the community together and making this civic dialogue possible. #hinducanadian #cdnpoli #onpoli #hcf #municipal

October 7, 2023 We Remember. Hamas terrorists launched a coordinated attack on Israel, entering communities, murdering civilians, committing sexual violence, burning homes, and abducting men, women and children. Three years later, we remember the victims, the families whose lives were shattered, and those who continue to carry the trauma of that day. We also stand firmly against antisemitism, terrorism and the targeting of civilians anywhere, by anyone. We remember. We mourn. We stand against terrorism and hate in all forms. #October7 #NeverForget #StandAgainstTerrorism #StopAntisemitism #hinducanadians

Three years ago today was the deadliest day for Jewish people since the Holocaust, when Hamas terrorists killed nearly 1200 people in Israel, took 250 hostages and injured others. Today, we honour all those who were killed, their families, survivors, and all those whose lives were forever changed. That includes nine Canadians: Vivian Silver, Netta Epstein, Alexandre Look, Judih Weinstein Haggai, Ben Mizrahi, Adi Vital-Kaploun, Shir Georgy, Yoav Malayev, and Tiferet Lapidot. To Jewish Canadians, our commitment is unwavering: you will always have right to live safely, openly, and freely in Canada.

Three years ago today, Hamas terrorists tortured, mutilated, and murdered 1,200 innocent civilians in Israel. Among those slain were men, women, and children — including dozens of Americans. We will never forget this act of barbarism against an ally and recommit ourselves to the defense of civilization.

Three years ago, Hamas terrorists carried out the deadliest attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust. More than 1,000 people were murdered. Children, parents and grandparents were dragged into Gaza as hostages. Families were torn apart in a single morning. Today I stand with Toronto's Jewish community in remembering every life lost, and the hostages and families whose suffering did not end that day. That hatred did not stay thousands of kilometres away. Here in Toronto, schools have been shot at, synagogues and Jewish businesses vandalized, families harassed in their own neighbourhoods. Too many Jewish residents have told me they no longer feel safe being visibly Jewish in the city they call home. Antisemitism is not the Jewish community's problem to confront alone. It demands leadership. There can be no excuses for celebrating terrorism on our streets, and no looking the other way when Jewish Torontonians are threatened. As mayor, hate will be met with consequences, not excuses. I have stood with this community at vigils and in synagogues. I have sat with families who buried their children and with families fighting to bring their loved ones home. They asked only that the world not forget. Remembering October 7 is about the kind of city we choose to be. I choose a Toronto where Jewish residents can live openly and proudly. A Toronto everyone can be safe in. May the memories of those murdered be a blessing, and may we build a Toronto where antisemitism has no home.

Last week, Hindu Canadians from across Milton came together Telugu, Tamil, Gujarati, Haryanvi, Nepali and many other communities under one roof and with one shared purpose: stronger civic engagement. Our Hindu community is wonderfully diverse in language, region and traditions, but when it comes to civic responsibility, we share one voice: participate, engage and vote. The discussion focused on the importance of civic participation, understanding municipal issues, engaging with those seeking public office, asking meaningful questions, and holding our elected representatives accountable. Democracy is one of Canada’s greatest strengths and democracy becomes stronger when citizens actively participate in it. With Milton’s municipal election approaching, Hindu Canadian Foundation (HCF) is encouraging every eligible Hindu Canadian and every eligible Milton resident to become informed and exercise their democratic right to vote. Be informed. Ask questions. Engage. VOTE. #ontario #municipalelections #cdnpoli #onpoli #hinducanadian

🧡 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 🧡 Today, the Hindu Canadian Foundation (HCF) joins Canadians across the country in observing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We honour the Survivors of residential schools, remember the children who never returned home, and recognize the lasting impact these experiences have had on Indigenous families and communities. As Hindu Canadians, we understand the importance of preserving culture, traditions, language, identity, and the connection between generations. These values remind us why listening to Indigenous voices, learning about their histories and respecting their cultural heritage are essential parts of reconciliation. Reconciliation is not simply about remembering the past. It requires truth, learning, meaningful dialogue and continued action toward a Canada where every community can preserve its heritage and future generations can live with dignity and belonging. Today, we honour, reflect, listen and learn.
