Apple reports fiscal fourth-quarter results after the market closes Monday, and investors are hoping the numbers ease concerns about heavy AI spending across tech.
Asian shares rebounded ahead of the report, while Brent crude fell 3.3% to $109.70 a barrel on continued Iran-Qatar mediation talks.
Apple guided for 9% to 11% revenue growth. The Zacks consensus is about $112.95 billion in revenue and $1.98 per share. The quarter includes only nine days of iPhone 18 Pro sales. It is also the first earnings call under CEO John Ternus.

A tiny imperfection on an iPhone Duo has sparked concerns about the device’s durability after its owner spotted the flaw using a macro lens.
The user reportedly loves the foldable iPhone and wants to keep it, but wonders whether the microscopic defect could compromise its water and dust resistance.
Apple rates the iPhone Duo IP68, offering protection against dust and water under controlled laboratory conditions. However, Apple warns that resistance can decline with normal wear.
A microscopic surface blemish does not automatically indicate a compromised seal. Still, contacting Apple for inspection is the safest option. Avoid water exposure until the device is checked.
A user has reported an outer-screen failure on his Apple Duo just nine days after getting the device, raising concerns about its early reliability.
According to the user’s account, the external display began flickering before becoming completely unresponsive. The inner screen, however, continues to function normally.
The device has also developed an unusual electrical zapping sound when opening or closing apps, adding to the concerns surrounding the malfunction.
The owner plans to visit an Apple Store the following day to seek a warranty replacement. Apple has not publicly confirmed whether this specific failure is related to a broader hardware issue.
The incident comes amid other early reports of iPhone Duo display problems. Apple has acknowledged issues affecting a small number of units and advised customers experiencing display failures to contact AppleCare for replacement support.
However, the available evidence does not establish whether the reported outer-screen malfunction and unusual electrical noise share the same underlying cause.
Outer screen died after just 9 days! 😬
A user shared that his Duo’s outer screen flickered and stopped working, while the inner screen remains perfectly fine. It also makes a weird electric zapping sound when opening or closing apps. He’s visiting Apple tomorrow for a warranty replacement. At least the inner screen still works! 🤦🏻♂️
A new video comparing the iPhone Duo and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 highlights a key challenge facing foldable smartphones: display crease visibility.
Tech reviewer @itz_ahmedx shared a 17-second clip showing both devices opened flat and tilted under light to reveal their central fold lines. The side-by-side demonstration also captures their landscape wallpapers and home screens during handling.
The clip has drawn attention to differences in foldable display technology. One commenter favors Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8, citing its viewing quality.
However, the footage does not establish an objective winner. Lighting, reflections, and camera angles can affect how prominently a crease appears. Both devices retain a visible folding area, despite improvements designed to minimize it.
For consumers considering a foldable phone, the comparison offers a useful glimpse of display design trade-offs, but a controlled test would provide a more reliable assessment of overall screen quality.
Apple’s rumored touchscreen MacBook Pro may not threaten iPad sales as much as some observers expect.
Without a dedicated tablet mode, Apple Pencil support, or a fundamentally different design, the laptop would remain primarily a Mac rather than a tablet replacement.
Instead, a touchscreen MacBook could strengthen the relationship between Apple’s two computing platforms.
Macs would offer familiar desktop productivity with additional touch controls, while iPads would retain their advantages for drawing, portability, and tablet-focused experiences.
Apple has historically maintained distinct roles for both products, describing Macs as computers built around keyboard and pointer input and iPads as touch-first devices.
A touchscreen MacBook could expand that strategy without eliminating the need for a tablet.
The bigger opportunity lies in reconsidering how these devices work together.
Apple could eventually explore more flexible hardware, deeper software integration, or new ways to move between desktop and tablet workflows.
For now, the touchscreen MacBook Pro appears to add convenience rather than replace the iPad. Its long-term significance may depend on how far Apple chooses to take that idea.
Power On: Apple finally delivered the touch-screen MacBook Pro but it missed a chance to be revolutionary (here’s why I’m excited regardless) bloomberg.com/news/newslette…
Apple is reportedly aiming to release a touchscreen MacBook Pro between late 2026 and early 2027, with software ready for fall and timing now tied to supply.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says the 14- and 16-inch models would get OLED panels and a Dynamic Island in place of the notch.
A reinforced hinge is expected to keep the screen steady when touched. Gurman describes the approach as touch-friendly, not touch-first, with the keyboard and trackpad still central. Apple has not confirmed any of this.
Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro Max outperformed Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra in a six-category camera comparison published by PhoneBuff, winning three categories against Samsung’s two, with color accuracy varying by shooting conditions.
Apple’s variable aperture improved low-light photography and zoom smoothness, while Samsung excelled at subject tracking and image stabilization.
However, Apple’s first foldable iPhone Duo faces early display-damage reports, raising durability concerns.
Meanwhile, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra dropped out of Japanese carrier au’s September smartphone top 10, highlighting growing competition from Apple’s premium lineup.
Apple really said, “Why pay for a bug-free experience when you can get a new bug every morning?” 💀 The magnetic car mount is now officially a premium feature that doubles as an iPhone Duo kill switch.
At this rate, iOS 27 needs a subscription tier just to unlock the ability to use your phone without accidentally discovering its next personality disorder. 😂
Apple CEO John Ternus believes artificial intelligence should make technology more useful without demanding users’ attention.
In an interview with Wired’s Steven Levy, he said Apple will prioritize products people love over adding AI simply to compete.
Ternus also questioned the idea that AI assistants will eventually replace traditional apps, arguing that creating products remains a deeply human endeavor.
Apple’s AI strategy comes amid criticism over delayed Siri improvements. The company introduced an upgraded assistant in June, with beta availability beginning September 14.
New capabilities include personal context, screen awareness and cross-app actions, supported by on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute.
Apple’s challenge is turning that vision into reliable everyday benefits. Ternus’s comments suggest the company sees AI as an enhancement to its existing ecosystem, not a reason to abandon apps or human-centered product design.
Apple fans arguing that the Duo's titanium frame is inherently stronger than the Galaxy Z Fold 8's aluminum frame may be overlooking a critical detail: thickness.
A material's strength alone does not determine how well a smartphone resists bending. Structural design, geometry, and material thickness all influence durability.
At just 0.5mm thick, the Duo's titanium frame could face significant structural challenges, despite titanium's impressive strength-to-weight ratio.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 uses Advanced Armor Aluminum, but that does not automatically make it weaker.
Samsung's foldable has also demonstrated impressive resistance to bending in independent durability testing.
The real question is how each phone's complete frame performs under stress, not which material sounds more premium.
Neither titanium nor aluminum guarantees a stronger device without considering the engineering behind it.
Apple spent years watching Samsung learn from its mistakes, apparently just to conclude that the best way forward was to make the same mistake with a different logo.
Seven years of folding phone evolution, billions in R&D, and somehow a dust cap is still an engineering challenge. Truly revolutionary.
Maybe the next keynote will feature a groundbreaking innovation called “keeping dust out.” Samsung learned this lesson in 2019.
Apple just needed a few extra years, a fancy marketing campaign, and an entirely new name to discover the same problem. Innovation really is magical. 🙄
Apple learned nothing from the original Galaxy Fold! 🙄
In 2019, the Galaxy Fold launched with no dust cover and screens died left and right. Samsung got roasted, then scrambled to add dust caps, and has kept them ever since.
Yet in 2026, 7 years later, Apple drops the iPhone Duo and forgets that basic detail too. Just a tiny dust cap and they couldn’t even add it properly.
Samsung paying the price once was enough, Apple is walking right down the same old path. 🫤
Apple took the title of the world’s most valuable company from Nvidia in July, its first stint on top since April 2025.
It first edged ahead on July 17 at about $4.88 trillion versus Nvidia’s $4.86 trillion, after a tech sell-off tied to AI valuation worries pulled Nvidia down roughly 3.5%.
Apple closed on top again on July 27 at about $4.95 trillion. But by early October, Nvidia had retaken the lead, at roughly $5.79 trillion to Apple’s $4.89 trillion.
Apple reportedly closed above $5 trillion on October 14, yet Nvidia stayed ahead. Market caps shift daily, so the ranking could change again.

Apple’s touchscreen MacBook Pro has received a cautious first impression from YouTube reviewer Marques Brownlee, who described the new feature as “sloppy and messy” despite praising its display and lighter design.
Brownlee criticized screen wobble, fingerprints and desktop apps that remain poorly suited to touch input. However, he found gestures responsive and acknowledged benefits for iPhone app developers.
Apple says the MacBook Pro features tandem OLED technology, 2,000-nit peak brightness and a 120Hz refresh rate.
The 14-inch model starts at $2,899, a $400 premium over the comparable mini-LED version.
Brownlee’s assessment suggests the display and reduced weight may offer more practical value than touch alone.
Apple begins shipping the laptops on November 6, giving developers time to improve touch support before the feature becomes essential.

Palantir, AMD, the congressional elections and the October jobs report all fall within five days. Apple and Palantir report Monday after the close, and AMD follows Tuesday, Nov. 3, the same day as the elections. The Bureau of Labor Statistics releases the October jobs report Friday at 8:30 a.m. ET.
The stakes are high. Third-quarter earnings are beating expectations by only 1.4% on average, far below the five- and 10-year averages, mostly due to disappointing reports from Meta and Alphabet, according to FactSet. After a Nasdaq decline, investors will look to Apple, Palantir and AMD for reassurance.
