Me deciding whether or not I want to venture from my desk with a campus-wide network outage. Monday, why you gotta be such a Monday first thing?
We definitely didn't have "Campus Single Sign On page outage" on our bingo card for today, but here we are.
No access to the student registration system, Canvas, Office 365, Zoom, etc. It's going to be great!
What's the pool up to for "Campus wide WiFi outage during the first week of fall classes"? Also, are we betting which day it happens? Only asking because I, ahem, may know a guy...
Hey @ProfGoat - @ass_deans asked me to forward this to you. She said something about this being the way for you to plug the funding gap in your department. 😂

Our annual college meeting (on campus), which for some reason is still called a "retreat", is in just 2 weeks.
Email from @ass_deans : We have three new faculty members starting on August 1. I need you to get them all up and running with their laptops and office setups that day.
Me: Uh, August 1 is a Saturday?
AD:
Ass Prof yesterday: I'm having trouble with my laptop. Can we meet in the office tomorrow at 9am for you to look at it?
Ass Prof today at 9am: I left my laptop at home. Can you fix it though?
Actual me:
When the AV installers have one job and still manage to screw it up.
@ProfGoat - it wasn't IT this time!
In the last 12 months, a total of 24 faculty and staff members in my college have quit. Many others are actively looking for employment elsewhere.
Actual question asked by the dean:
I don't think we're in any immediate danger of Skynet becoming self-aware any time soon.
Dozens of empty Waymos invaded an Atlanta neighborhood and circled a cul-de-sac for hours with no passengers

Classes are over. Half of central IT's pages, including Canvas, have been down for more than 24 hours. @ass_deans sends an email reminding everyone that grades are due by 5 pm today.
Dean to "senior" staff member: "Thank you for your service to the college. I wish you the best in your retirement at the end of the month."
Staff member: I'm afraid that I'm confused. I'm not planning on retiring.
Dean:
Replying to @katieporterca
Why does everything have to be "FREE"?
maybe cut down the administration overhead to reduce costs?
how about students operating the university while they attend as job experience in a real environment?
With all of the power outages at unis in the northern US and Canada this week, I have to ask: Did someone feed this guy after midnight?
WMU Alert: 3/19/26: Except for essential services, all Kalamazoo campuses are closed and classes are canceled today due to the power outage. Check bit.ly/3NCJkjQ for more information.
