UMass sticks at #19 after this weekend's split with Northeastern.
Michigan is the new No. 1!

NU tips it out in front and they lead 3-1. No chances for UMass, outshooting but certainly not outchancing. Nothing dangerous towards net, no possession. Pure frustration at Mullins tonight in this second game.

So uhhhh we are 7 minutes into the Third period and I don’t think we’ve registered a shot yet. Still down 2-1 and we are just wasting time here. Need some legit chances if we wanna tie this period up.

So it was 5 mins to Egor and 2 minutes to Lieberman and we need a 2 minute 5 on 3 PK in a tie game. If we kill this we win the game simple as.
Barabanov is gone for spearing with 6 minute to go in the second period. Not a good look for him especially in a tie game. Fuck.

At the halfway point of this game, UMass has almost doubled NU’s shots. And it’s a great story that Caulfield has blanked UMass thus far but the reality is that we haven’t challenged him or made him move at all. Nothing dangerous towards his net. That needs to change.

UMass to the PP on a NU holding call with 15 remaining in the second period. A PP marker would be SO clutch right here. PLEASE.

Kuhta allegedly throws the stick which leads to a penalty shot which Eskit turns aside with ease. Still 1-0 with 16 minutes remaining in the second period.

UMass ends the period down 1-0 but it wasn’t for a lack of trying. Similar gameplan to last night with point shots, tips out front and rebound opportunities for offense. All we are missing is the immediate response to the early NU goal to start the game. 1 goal opens it up.

A very… nothing period for the past 10 minutes of the 1st period. Still down 1-0. We’ve had some random rebound slaps on net but not much going for either team, similar to last night but UMass’ floodgates eventually opened. Need a breakthrough.

Refs are calling a TON of penalties early on. Keenan to the box for roughing, still down 1-0. We’ve had some looks that are JUST out of reach, 1 goal separates these 2 teams.

A… not particularly dangerous play manages to beat Eskit early from the faceoff dot. Similar to last night we get beat early, let’s hope it’s a similar vibe to where we respond early and control from that point onwards. 1-0 NU 5 minutes into period 1.

Little late on my part but puck has dropped in Amherst. After 3 minutes of play, northeastern has had the puck in our zone mainly. Need some action going the other way soon.

This is a damn shame, Kerr has been a steady force since last year, faceoff, physicality, even a scoring touch for a solid run last year. Our calling card all offseason was our alleged depth so here is a chance to see it shine. Hoping for a quick recovery for Justin!

We can expect at least one of those to stick. Coach said last night that Justin Kerr will be missing significant time

Trying to bring you guys the most up to date info as we can, don’t have a clear pic of the line chart but looks like Dexheimer and Kerr are out of the lineup and are replaced by Taillefer and Dunn respectively. Lieberman slots into the lineup while Taillefer is extra D! COME ON

Looks like Caulfield led Northeastern out for opening warmups. Looking to snag the line chart for UMass tonight, will be posted soon. Hoping Zacher is alright after his scary injury last night!

Great insight here from Ryan, clearly shows that UMass was trying to crash the net last night and did so extremely effectively between Václav’s first goal and Cornforth’s tap in. Eskit has been the most pleasant of surprises in goal thus far. Goalie room is DEEP.
Northeastern scored early, but Ethan Eskit accounted for a +1.71 GSAx the rest of the way, and UMass won xG 3.20-2.71. Vaclav Nestrasil scored twice, and Gavin Cornforth added a goal. Miguel Marques had NU’s lone goal.
