I've been using it to straighten my home askesis as an inquirer (should be received into catechumen on November 1!!!) and I also cannot recommend it enough. The only features hidden behind paywall are convenience ones like the all reading to you, etc. all the essential things: - daily reading - prayer rule (editable so you can add!) - fasting schedule - daily saints' stories l Totally free. Whoever made it rules.
This Orthodox ☦️ app called "Athon" is actually amazing. I've been using it for a few days now, and I thought I'd share it. I'm NOT paid or affiliated, I just want others to know about it! It keeps you praying, fasting, there's a chapel where you can request/pray for others, read the Word, Saints, Fathers, etc. just look at this screen recording of my account! There's also an AI where you can ask it anything regarding Orthodoxy, I've tried it and while I usually don't support AI in theology, it's actually very well done. Again this isn't an ad, I'm just someone who found this app and has been loving it. It even has awesome widgets you can add to your home screen that tracks your prayer times, shows scripture, saints, fathers, etc. everything Orthodox you could possibly need is in this app!

When I listen to War Mode, it feels like my internal dialogue in my dreams when I've had just a touch too much L-theanine.

Another beautiful Divine Liturgy. It's funny... my wife, a Mormon, asks me "what did you learn today?" because in their congregations it's nonstop homily and it's typically from lay people, open to their own interpretation no matter how heterodox. So I always tells her "I learned more about myself and how tuned in I am with God." It is truly the diagnosistic work and the medicine.

How I feel about it.
Watching France and knowing we are only a few years behind them is an awful feeling.

The Filioque led to this, I bet.

"The man called Jesus made mud and said to me 'go to Siloam and wash.' Then I went and washed and received my sight." To the Pharisees: "He put mud on my eyes. Then I washed, and now I see... ... I do not know whether he is a sinner. One thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see." He finally confesses to the Pharisees that Jesus was sent from God, for who could open the eyes of a man born blind? We're all a little bit this man born blind, looking for God and only in confessing the miracles of our lives and days, correctly attributing them, do we find Him.

Gonna take me a while to internalize that Barabbas' name was also Jesus. The people chose to kill Jesus the Christ and release Jesus Son of the Father (Barabbas -> Bar-Abba). Our Lord's two primary titles put to task before the crowds. Poetic really.

A beautiful paraklesis to the Theotokos at St. Xenia's tonight. It always feels so different, in a really great way, to have a formal evening congregational prayer.

We have got to politically and economically divorce ourselves from Israel.

You guys remember playing tag or hide and go seek as kids and them being like "count to [insane number]!" So you'd hit em with "1... 2... skip a few... 99... 100!" and tag em in mere seconds? Devastating.

I told my Fr. that I wish to be baptized to try to become part of the body of Christ. And that when I left the LDS church ten years ago, my sense of divinity was so intertwined with my autosuggestion of the LDS church being true that I was and still am very badly walled off to those things because I don't want to be deceived. He told me this week to pray to know who God wants me to be. No pointing at EO truth claims, no driving at any conclusion (except that God exists and hears and answers). This is Christianity.

Excuse the grotesque nickname, but there's a mine shaft here in Utah my commercial flight instructor and I flew near and he asks: "Have you ever been to Satan's Anus?" "St. Xenia's? In Payson? It's where I go to church." He laughs "I don't know if it's techically Payson, it's by Eureka. But yeah that old mine shaft that goes down hundreds of feet." "St. Xenia's Orthodox Church? That's 100% Payson." "No SAY-TIN's AY-NISS" "Oh that is SO NOT where I go to church." The radio blurs some sounds. We had a laugh.

My humble prayer wall/corner. Not very holy, like me a work in progress. One cross as the icon of our incarnate God, Jesus Christ. Three candles for each member of the Trinity. All amidst my soda bottle collection and my other desk baloney. I even removed my old 2025 SkyWest calendar from the wall behind it just for the pic. Working on getting proper icons. But we are facing east! Sleep well and may the Lord keep you.
