Ali-Sina Mostafavi was a mountaineer and athlete. He had climbed in the Himalayas and was a man full of life, with achievements, ambitions, and a future. Ali-Sina was sentenced to death following torture, a forced confession, and a sham trial. His state killing is part of the regime’s campaign to terrorize Iranians and silence dissent. As the Committee for Drafting Iran’s Transitional Justice Regulations has warned: “Every execution adds to your criminal liability. Do not count on these crimes being forgotten, immunity from punishment, or forgiveness.” Remember Ali-Sina not only for how the regime killed him, but for how he lived. Those responsible for his execution will face justice. #LastBreath

Thank you. I worked the WH tourist line the summer of '73, and the protests were infuriating and difficult to work around. During a brief time at the Washington Monument running the elevator, which was amazing, I met Frank Wills, the young security guard who found the tape on the door at the Watergate, removed it and then called authorities when he found it was replaced. For some reason, someone was showing him around that day. A nice guy who was caught up in a firestorm.

Good morning you beautiful people. And now, it’s time for a story. Reading Winnie the Pooh to my granddaughter this morning. The chapter in which Eeyore loses a tail and Pooh finds one. The book I bought my daughter, her Mum, when she was little. A perfect way to start a Monday.
