The Chinese Communist Party has spent years exploiting the American economy to advance its own technological and military ambitions. That’s why I introduced the Prohibiting Adversarial Patents Act alongside @RepMoolenaar and @repdarrellissa. This legislation closes the door on hostile foreign entities using our patent system to gain economic leverage and undermine our national security. Read more ⬇️ fitzgerald.house.gov/media/p…

“The [PERA] legislation would upend the patent system, distort productive incentives and open the floodgates for low-quality patents to impede economic growth & innovation,” writes @SenPatRoberts on how PERA harms the agriculture sector & overall economy: bit.ly/3vWeCth.

“Unfortunately, recent bills introduced in Congress have the potential to… revert to a more litigious patent system that is easier to exploit and less conducive to innovation,” wrote a @RSI analysis. More on how PREVAIL would raise costs for consumers: bit.ly/3VkHSmd.

The inter partes review (IPR) process benefits both US companies and American consumers. The PREVAIL Act would limit access to IPR for companies targeted by abusive litigation, exacerbating inflation and ultimately raising costs for Americans. Read more: bit.ly/45qvKEV.

Fintiv Analysis Proves That Fintiv Is Being Used To Leave Likely Invalid Patents In Force patentprogress.org/2022/03/3…
The ability of interested groups to cherry-pick an outlier district judge by finding a local plaintiff and filing in a division with a single judge is something that the Advisory Committee or Congress could fix with the stroke of a pen — and that ought to have bipartisan support.

Today marks 10 years since the Leahy-Smith America Invents Act was passed. “IPR and the AIA have been essential for the current state of patents" and have paved the way so startups and small businesses can #innovatewithoutfear. #AIA10 bit.ly/3nx5rsI

Congress created a system of patent challenges (inter partes review) in 2011. IPRs have worked surprisingly well and put some limits on patent trolling. Unfortunately, Trump's @USPTO director is now trying to wreck IPR. eff.org/deeplinks/2020/11/te…

Proud to see Google VP Marian Croak's new @USPTO Collectible Inventor Card, honoring her impressive 200+ patents: uspto.gov/kids/Croak.html
As a US-based manufacturer, @Intel depends on the US patent system to develop new #tech. In an effort to overturn policies undermining American innovation, Intel and other innovators filed a lawsuit under the Administrative Procedure Act against the USPTO. blogs.intel.com/policy/2020/…

Cisco is a strong supporter of the US patent system. Today we, along with Apple, Google & Intel, sued the US Patent & Trademark Office. Incentivizing American innovation requires PTO to review patents that should've never been granted. From @ChandlerCisco blogs.cisco.com/news/why-cis…
🚨BREAKING: We analyzed all 165 of @abbvie’s patent apps and revealed how its “drip feed” patenting strategy extends its monopoly from 20 to 29 years. Payers will spend at least $41B on Imbruvica during these extra 9 years, because the patent system allows it.

Access to mobile tools and devices has become increasingly important to #smallbiz during #COVID19. What if access to these devices were limited or disrupted? That could happen. Read @KarenKerrigan's latest @MorningConsult here: morningconsult.com/opinions/…

A plea to reimagine the patent system so it operates in the public interest by raising the bar on patent quality and giving the public good tools to challenge bad patents. Check out @pritikrishtel on @TEDTalks ted.com/talks/priti_krishtel…
